Around 1,000 at the cup match verus Shams last summer. 300 from Sligo.
Ya and there was only about 80 of us at the Cork game second last match of last season.
5 hour drive to cork on bad roads. 2 hour drive to dublin on good roads. invalid comparison
Get a grip sligored - come on you cannot actually think RTE are showing the game for thebitored fans!!
i never said that. i merely said if your read post 35 that if the game was sold out the national broadcaster would have to show it
There was also no way 800 Rovers fans were at the cup game last year. Even have a look at the footage from the match 800?! Not a hope.
there were 2100 at the match and at least 40% supported sligo
RTE are showing it becuase it is Shams first match at the Tallaght Stadium and therefore should pull in a decent TV audience relative to other League games.
agreed
How many Rovers fans can or cannot get tickets to it is really irrelevant to RTE.
this is a sligo rovers forum discussing our opening fixtures so therefore it is relevant to me and i merely said that it was an ideal match to show.
OMG for once I am agreeing with Dodge.....where is my medication!!
if you keep taking that medication you will end up like him

I would have said 150/200 Rovers fans at that match.
As far as i know at the Cup game we lost something like 327 fans came in the gate reserved for away fans. As i was chatting to a Shams lad a couple of days after and he had the figure, one way ot the other it was just over 300. That sounded about right to me anyway.
Now that it's on tv we'll need 11 tickets for this game
I was out in lovely Tallaght today, had a drive by the ground. Doesn't look bad but not ideal for atmosphere as the whole lot is open and just the one stand on one side where I presume all the supporters will be.
Will be much better when they get the second stand built. Still, fair play to SDCC for getting the funding together and best of luck to them.
Would be great to sicken them though.....![]()
