I thought Whelan was ok, doing some important stuff you tend not to notice.

Not a hope for me, I think that's just too easy. He was awful. He didn't want the ball and despite the general consensus (on this site anyway) he doesn't get stuck in enough and is not at all tenacious in his tackling. He stands around, hoping to break up play but rarely does. He'd be the first guy gone if I had my way.

I think Kelly got the nod based on his experience but in hindsight it wasn't a great call.

I don't mind Kelly. He was obviously rusty and probably nervous the last night and it could have cost us but I thought he was a good player in the PL for Birmingham. I'd have him over McShane any day. I haven't seen enough of Foley to voice an opinion.

Some of the comments on this thread, and in the Georgia match thread, remind me of similar comments made on the board in the past about Matt Holland.
Similar playing style, similar role in the side, similar goals.
