I second that.
I know this seems like stating the obvious but this site wasn't designed as a rumour mill. It's here to allow those who are interested to discuss what we know about the club, i.e. the facts. It's perfectly acceptable for people to come on here and ask questions but in the last week we've seen an explosion of posters desperate to seem like they're in the know spouting all kinds of borderline defamatory cr*p. It's simply not good enough. Rule of thumb: If our club hasn't put it up on the website, it's not really a worthy thing for a fan to do to go spouting it on the net for all the other LOIers to see.
I use this site primarily to hear the opinions of others and offer some of my own on the goings on at the club - I do not come on and act as though I am the first person in Limerick to here all of the rumours that are been carried up and down William Street everyday. The tone on this forum has become decidedly nasty and it's up to us to change it. We all know who the WUMs are and they should simply be ignored.
I know this may seem obvious but I'm a man at the end of a half-hour trawl through the most intensely banal conjecture this forum has seen in a long time.
FACTS people please.
We tend to believe that words enable thought. But words can also substitute for thought.

Very nicely put![]()
Bizarrely, as moderator and all that, I do believe that there's always going to be plenty of room for a certain amount of innuendo and rumour on any internet forum. By and large I try not to censor any more content than I absolutely have to and I'm definitely amongst the most lenient mods on this site. There are supposed to be infractions given for things like Caps lock and Text Speak that I generally don't apply without first sending a message to a particular user explaining the situation.
Against that there are a number of posters who use the Limerick forum as nothing more than a pond to reel some of the more excitable Limerick fans. This WUMing does nothing for the site and will always be cracked down upon. At the end of the day this is a Limerick forum and, to put it as simply as I possibly can, it's against the rules to come on here and simply wind up Limerick fans.
As well as this there are a number of people who, for various reasons of their own, use this forum to foist their own agendas, generally coming from a place of great bitterness to endlessly attack the club and those involved with it. There's no problem with anybody criticising the club and I've made that point on these message boards many, many times. But there are people posting here, just a handful, who have never, ever, ever expressed an even vaguely positive sentiment about anything related to Limerick FC in cyberspace and frankly those people have about as much business on a Limerick FC webforum as Kelly Brooke does judging a talent contest.
So post on people but try and be human about it.![]()
The ball is round and has many surprises.
You spelt Brook wrong you unbelievable gay![]()
Agree with everything here lads but when you have the senior players of the squad telling anyone that will listen about the current situation I think Limerick fans deserve to know whats goin on. I think its different to previous rumours which were obviously unfounded and simply ignored.
sure the Limerick fc site isnt updated on time so how can you rely on that for accurate news, Mike kerley resigned last night and the dogs on the street know about it but its not on the Limerick fc site so do you take it as happened or not happened.
Lads this club isnt ran very professional, at the start of the last 3 seasons we have no manager a few weeks before the start of the season, this season our players have to contribute money to training and now the owner wants to sell the club and the only player that is signed is Pat Purcell !!, why is that
get down off your high horses Lads, this isnt 1970 Russia.

lol well for a start the players who have been offered contracts or will sign for the club are paid during the season and not before or after. although the club would like to pay the players throughout the year we are not big club and simply cant afford to. a player if he or she encures a expense related to paying for facilities?????? which no player in my mind has had to do as the club pays for all facilities it uses can of course expense back these costs for paying for training facilities???????
now our website had the fixture list up .1 of a second after the FAI released them. If your looking for gossip you wont find it there. If mike Kerley has resigned, im just up out of bed but by 2 am last night he had not notified the club...so how can we put up on a website that he had resigned if he hasnt said it directly to the club? The club is being run by volenteers my friend who imo are doing a very professional job, you want true professionalism? pay them! players signed is down to the manager who has to sign the players. we have some under contract (2 year deals) from last season and more should be in Knockalisheen today to sign. A supurb squad in the making lads just gve it a day or two.

But will they sign now that Kerley is gone? There must be something serious going on if a successfull manager (based on last season) resigns two weeks before the start of a new season with only three players signed and only one pre-season friendly played.
Crowds improved last season even when we weren't challenging for anything and this was down to the fact that Kerley had them playing some very attractive football. Not a hope of that happening if Noel O Connor takes over.

From the sound of things players are more likely to sign now than before.
The crowds were mostly down to the fact that the team was on a good run. The style of football (which I'll miss) certainly didn't hurt but I don't believe it was the sole factor.
The ball is round and has many surprises.
Maybe, but there is a large number of players that Kerley signed last season from his involvement with UL the year before. I can see some of them changing their mind about signing now that he is gone.
Yes, I agree but that good run, I think, was down to the fact that Kerley had them playing some very good football. Whoever comes in, is going to have a different style of football.

no one is expecting ye to pay them out of season, Players have been training 1 day a week for the last few weeks and the players had to pay for the training sesion out of their own pocket because the club could not afford to pay it how professional is that,
it will be interesting to hear why M/K resigned and if the Butcher comes back does that mean danny Drew will be back too, if so the club is going backwards
also if he resigned at 2am how come it was on foot.ie @ 10.45 , see below

Lets look at the upside tho, Brian O'Callaghan has signed.
Ha?
Source? Cause I know for a fact that is lies. Also, even if it were true, we're not a professional club
Danny isn't coming back anyway
Read again. Gael said that by the time he went to bed at 2AM that Mike hadn't given the club notification of his intention to leave, not that he resigned at 2AM
resignation comfirmed. statement later. laughing stock of league as usual at this time of year. so no surprise. 2 weeks to get a squad and a manager, joke. as i said earlier volunteers and fans of limerick deserve so much better.
