Agree well done to Monaghan. We only applied for a First Division Licence as our management only hold UEFA B License and Premier requires UEFA A License but I am working on that already and will be pushing for the Premier one next season.

On Longford's relegation, it could be as simple as not having a CPO this year. Though obviously there may be other reasons.

Edit - that'll tell ya, Réiteóir!
True, we won't be having a CPO this year so that could be it alright. Not bothered really. Roll on the games now.

Yes with Kildare County getting a reprieve from relegation.

They have an option to appeal the decision.
Yes at present they are in the 'A' Division.

Are Cobh the first team to be relegated a Division as a direct result of annual Licensing decisions?
And are Kildare County the first to benefit from them?

I mean the year-to-year decisions, I realise the IAG decisions of 2007 needs to be mentioned in any discussion.

Kildare has been one of our better trips regarding results and distance over the years so im glad there still in the league however I know what you mean regarding Cobh.

It's a bold and brave new experiment. You might be cynical about it but I for one can't wait for their first game, at home to Sporting Fingal Mullingar.

Were Shels relegated because of licensing? I'm not sure what exactly went on there. It was in 2007 but was separate to the IAG decisions as Shels were in the premier originally before being replaced by Waterford close to the start of the season.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Interesting that Cobh and Kildare's licences are provisional only. I assume Kildare's is provisional based on Cobh's appeal (even though that's not what the article says). Could Cobh lose their A Licence? Or is it just a really badly worded release?

Shels were officially relegated due to deliberate errors in their licence, I think. Which is a slightly different thing.

We were relegated (or not promoted) by the IAG process in December but I don't think the Shels decision came until February so it probably was licencing alright..

I think we are on the same point. I thought Shels were just not part of the restructured Premier Division after the IAG decisions. But is that different from the Annual Licensing decisions?

They were. That's why Waterford were relegated and the promoted again.

No, ye were just not invited to join the Premier Division, a new league under new rulers

Thanks for that. Licensing started in August for me and it feels like a huge weight's been lifted of my shoulders.

I can't wait to get back up to Athlone on Thursday and go on the p*ss with the lads involved.

What are the bets that both Kildare and Cobh are in the first division on opening night?
