    Celtic players for NI

Just wondering what would be the views of the majority of NI fans on Paddy McCourt and Niall McGinn if they played in the upcoming games ? Are they likely to face a hostile reception ? or has all that nonsense now over ?

I`m assuming the vast majority of NI fans would come from the unionist background with a heavy support from Rangers, Linfield and Glentoran, so just wondering if things have changed in any way ? I have been following the stories of the NI fans over the last few years, and the majority do seem to be a decent lot, big into the team, and very passionate with a great fun element thrown in.

I would be as disgusted if they let themselves sown with these 2 players - as much as I was when the so called Ireland fans booed some current at the time and one time even an ex rangers player in lansdowne some years back.

Hopefully we have all moved on from this.

#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

Anyone who pulls on a Northern Ireland shirt, and gives it 100%, will have my full and unequivocal support. That would be the view of the overwhelming majority of Northern Ireland fans.

Anyone amongst our ranks who thinks otherwise is not a genuine Northern Ireland fan.

In fact, anyone who would shame to our supporters by abusing OUR players on account of their club affiliation is an enemy of the Northern Ireland team.

I don't expect any "nonsense" whatsoever.

Times have moved on - my favourites, Linfield FC, have several Celtic supporters amongst our playing staff, at all levels.

I did a talk on the Falls Road in Belfast about 12 months ago to a youth group. One young fella I was introduced to played for one of the Linfield FC youth teams - he had a Linfield FC shirt on, underneath a Celtic FC tracksuit.

I hope the two lads get a run out at some time on Wednesday night.

I'll be there to cheer them on.

The Englishmen came over in the year 2005
But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise
Sir David scored the winner, and Windsor Park went wild
And this is what we sang...

Let's hope there are more "olayers" than boo-ers, eh?

One of the proudest and funniest events in the recent history of Irish football was the booing of former Glasgow Celtic of Scotland player Vidar Riseth at the Bohs-Rosbenborg CL qualifier. An apt response to Oireland fans' moronic booing of players from foreign teams around that time. Poor George Hamilton didn't have a clue what was going on, I wonder if he's figured it out yet.
A leading authority on League of Ireland football since 2003. You're probably wrong.

Sheridan, this was not an apt response, 2 wrongs do not make a right, how you or anyone could think so is beyond me.

Thanks for the reply Not Brazil - fair play then. Good luck on Wed

I'd say they should be alright these days playing for NI although a lot of people seem to have jumped on the Norn Iron bandwagon since the days of Neil Lennon and you always get a few idiots jumping onboard as well.

Paddy McCourt came on during the second half for Northern Ireland.

    There were no "problems" whatsoever.

Did ok when he came on.
