Too busy with work this week to comment on anyones CD's or do mine yet. Will be getting CDs tomorrow and hopefully sending them out on Sunday or Monday.
What did I just say above?
Seriously, On Our Big Fat Merry-Go-Round, far and away their best, full of spiky, punchy, punky pop gems.
I Am The Greatest is pretty good too mind. It's got Take It Easy On Me on it, probably my favourite song of theirs at the mo.
Feck it get the two of them!![]()

Ha turns out I had already heard Loudon Wainwright. Composer of the great 'Dead Skunk In The Middle of the Road'.
Lads, it there an address list this year going around? If so, could someone send it to me, if not I'll just use the one I have for last year.
EDIT: Much obliged, The Optimist.

I think mine was supposed to be out by today so apologies for the delay, burning the CDs now as I type and you can expect "Long Gone," in the post tomorrow. I decided to take 'wistfulness' as my theme so I hope you're all feeling suitably melancholy.![]()

Is it me this week, or are we running a bit behind schedule? I'll knock something up anyway in the next couple of nights.

It's supposed to be me next I think, we're running a couple of weeks behind.
My Irish-flavoured selection slated for Paddy's week has had to be butchered a bit. No harm anyway!![]()

Sorry guys, I'm one of those infernally annoying people are always meaning to get around to doing things and always leaves them late, I'm afraid. Something always comes up to distract me.Apologies iof it's played havoc with the order.
Plus, I use iTunes to burn the CDs and it takes about 15-20 minutes per CD, and you can't use the computer while you're doing them as it freezes and slows so I never look forward to doing 9 and space them out accordingly over a few days!
Was going to post it tomorrow but Irish postal system seems to be speedier than I imagined:

Don't worry, TCM, I always leave these things too late too.
Got your cd today, and have it on now. Just saw your tracklist, but so far I knew most of the artists, if not all the songs. That's not a bad thing, by the way, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far.
The Divine Comedy one is one of my favourites.

Had a couple of listens TCM.
There is a lot of stuff on there that i listen to reguarly.Morrisey,Ramones,SLF,Pogues,Lizzy,Nick Cave.
My favourite would be SLF Half a Life Away. Its not very often you would hear a mellow one from them!
Emiliana Torrini i've heard of before, i've a couple of her songs on some compilations really like her voice.
Glory Box sounds as good as ever.
The only tracks that wouldn't appeal to me would be Lily Allen and Babyshambles.I've never saw the attraction in either of them
Overall i enjoyed the cd it was a nice mix.
The beatings will continue until morale improves!
Nice work TCM!
To be honest, was a little wary of it before listening, but it's not nearly so gloomy as you suggested.
Gets off to a cracking start with the first three tracks, and keeps the level high all through.
I love the Emiliana Torrini, Morrissey, and Miles Davis tracks in particular. Always liked Miles Davis for some reason, even though I hate jazz with a vengeance. Must admit I do like the Babyshambles one too.
Very interesting to hear House of the Rising Sun in a version closer to the original.
And Glory Box does indeed sound as good as ever!
Can you PM me the new address list? Cheers!

Or indeed anyone else who still has the new address list, if you could fire it this way...
EDIT - Thanks Optimist! I'll be pressing tonight and tomorrow, and they should be on their way from then.

Only listened to thischarmingman's selection tonight as I hadn't a chance beforehand. Must say, on first listen, I really like the Nick Cave, SLF, Emiliana Torrini, Syd Barrett, The Impacts and Miles Davis songs (none of which I had heard before).
I'm liking Lily Allen's version of Naive despite never being too fond of the original. Incidentally I listened to Portishead's Dummy last week for the first time and it's quite something. Think Since I Left You by the Avalanches could be the highlight. Hadn't heard of the band or song so that's another name to check out. Overall, lovely stuff!![]()
I forgot to mention The Avalanches too. Brilliant stuff, enough to finally get me to go get hold of the album (only knew Frontier Psychiatrist before now).
Anyway, Louden Up!!! (with due apologies to !!!) is away this morning.
No theme at all, but it turns out they're all tunes that benefit from a bit of volume.
Bit of a mixed bag too, had a number of styles in mind but invariably chopped the sh*te out of them, and this is what's left.
Will post a tracklist tomorrow.

*puts skates on*
I'll sort mine over the weekend so, and get them out early next week.

Now were talking!

Haha not in the way you are thinking!
Well, not all of them anyway. Not just grrrr sounds, could be a funky beat or a slinky bassline, a sweet keyboard riff or a nice skirl of pipes, or indeed myriad shimmering crystalline shards of icy guitar ( (C) Melody Maker 1988) that benefits from the loudening.

Excellent - basslines! I best put my collection of Waterford Crystal in a safe place to avoid any smashes from this, alternative, 'Waterford Cut'!Looking forward to it now I must say: I wonder what could be in store?
Also, a note of considered and considerable apology is in order for Optimist Prime and Man. I have yet to listen to either lads, however this ignorant detachment is owing to recent personal circumstance rather than anything else. I'll listen to both in the next few days, and then, in all likelihood, post a special triple report. I'm so excited I'm not sure my stomach will be able to stomach my dinner.![]()
Just to pass on apologies to TCM -while I got your CD last week I've only gotten to listen to the first half of it (twice) as things are up the walls.
The Nick Cave tune is class. Anyway proper feedback by the weekend. Apologies again.
