I'm assuming you're having a go at Stutts, and he's not saying that at all. He's saying that we can't employ Coleman at Right-back because we don't have the players to dominate possession in midfield, we're going to spend most of our games without the ball, and we need full-backs who can, first and foremost, defend. Unfortunately, an all-out-attacking right-back isn't a luxury we can afford. Even Kevin Foley - a superior 'footballer' to Kelly and McShane - was found wanting defensively in that position. So would Coleman at the present time.
We're already employing several quality wingers, including Coleman, by the way.
I've been following the twitter war the last couple of weeks and it's entertaining. Just banter.
"If God had meant football to be played in the air, he'd have put grass in the sky." Brian Clough.
You'll NEVER beat the Irish.......you'll just draw with us instead!!!
haha i had a look at there texts there , very funny , coleman slaughtered him, these are my favourites:
Neville : sub for ireland-its like being sub for man utd youth team! Although u r a 50k signing from sligo bless!
Coleman: yeah just glad to be here fizzer! Never thought I'd be so lucky!
u looking forward to next season.. U must be glad garys retired? Ur family might come watch u on a saturday now!
actually they will prob just stay in and watch him on sky sports instead of watching u!
Neville: have a great summer pal-reserves report back 5th july!
Coleman: is that what date he told u.. Internationals not back until the 11th so see ya then! Night skipper x
That's class. That's quite the cutting retort there from seamie. Brilliant.
Ya he really got him.
And about 15 yrs of good luck and being on the bench as a come back for see you are on the bench again tonight. Really did get him.
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker

Moyes looking to use Coleman as a full back next season:
http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2011/0623/colemans.htmlEverton manager David Moyes will look to develop Seamus Coleman's qualities in defence as he plans to use the 22-year-old in his more familiar position in the coming season.
The Republic of Ireland international found himself pressed into service on the right of midfield due to injuries and did well enough to be named the club's young player of the year and get a PFA Young Player nomination.
However, Moyes said it was not a long-term plan and he was looking forward to Coleman having more of a run at right-back in the coming campaign.
'We have still got to see whether he can cope as a full-back in the Premier League but what we can say is that he can play as a winger if we need him,' he said.
'There will be a little bit of a change over next season as we will look to move him a bit further back and maybe he can develop into a right-back.
'In the first six or seven months of last season he gave us great impetus, he was the one we were looking to in spells.
'That fresh, real honest, just-glad-to-be-on-the-pitch approach was something the supporters recognised and appreciated.
'I think in the last few months he went off a little bit, I think after the last time he came back from international duty he did not come back firing like he was before.'
Moyes added on evertonfc.com: 'Sometimes there are things about Seamus when you can see why he was a €120,000 player and then there are other times you will look at him and say that is great business.
'Overall, his progress for us - from his loan move to Blackpool to coming back to us - you can see the strides he has made.
'He really has stepped up massive levels in a short space of time and we are hoping for him to keep that going over the coming seasons.'
That's grest news. Would be fantastic if he developed his defending and was their first choice RB next season. I see him as a RB not a RW
Positive stuff.
Although I was concerned that Seamus' price and bargain status may not get it's obligatory reference but Moyes got it in there with seconds to spare.
Its great news, lets hope he adapts, I think Trap has the very same reservations about the defensive side to his game though. It also highlights the often mentioned on here need to export all our young talent into the English system at a young age and what Ireland needs to be doing to bridge that gap in coaching here, Seamus himself mentioned it once in an interview, how he was playing catch up in terms of coaching at Everton, and Moyes has alluded to it also in that piece.
If even a player as good as Coleman is, who had really stood out in LOI, still needs that amount of working on, the English academy system will be the destination for most of our talented players for a while yet.

best news heard all day, and united did sign young today. coleman should be played as a right full with the menace to go forward. once gets games and proves himself there trap will have no excuses not to have him as our 1st choice right full. instead of squad playing winger.
I think for footballing pc or consensus thinkers, the LOI thing is totally over played. The anti-academy argument can be borne out by what danny mills said re zombie robots than are churned out by English academies being a reason for the country's underachieving.
Re peanuts Everton paid for Coleman, in my opinion, it was the worst bit of business done by Sligo Rovers to sell him for the price they did -- but simply put they didn't want to impede his career. Community club etc not having business ruthlessness.
But all LOI clubs have inferiority complex to England -- if Coleman had come up from any lower English league the money shelled out would have been a multiple of 10, irrespective of his purported lack of development. English clubs historically have nothing but disrespect for Irish soccer, look at the money that Doyle et al went for.
It is hardly is a ringing endorsement of academy structure that they struggle to yield results on level they should consider the investment. Aside to Moyes trying to look like a genius, and hit an easy target, ie LOI, the simple over riding factor in Coleman's success is a will to win and simply put, as he states himself, if the desire to beat the man ahead of him. You can try to teach it, but it's innate.
Allied with that Coleman is also cute and grounded enough to not over hype himself. But I have no doubt that whatever insecurities he may have harboured were dispelled during Blackpool spell and his early run with Everton.
Anyways, with all the expertise out there it can hardly be that difficult to have the top Irish underage in an Academy structure. Coleman was playing underage for Ireland. You don't need to be a genius to realise the boy''s got some talent. What for example, if another lad at the age of 12 from Cavan, Donegal, Mayo eg shows promise do you think its wise to have him linked in with an English club? The practical reality is it wouldn't happen.
PS - what the success of Coleman also shows is that if you can cut it at the top level in LOI, stay until your are late teens or early 20s, then there is just as good a chance of playing high level in England or Scotland, than going to an English academy or club, but without the huge dislocation at an early age and high potential for rejection. Roy Keane another example.
Glad to see he is getting due recognition and will no doubt blossom into future.
Also, he was back in the Showgrounds last week, giving standing ovation and warmly received. Along with doing the annual draw he stood with groups of kids and supporters. What an ambassador for his county, club, family and LOI.
Think you're being a bit unfair on Sligo. They got 150k sterling for a player they hadn't tied down to a long-term contract - that's no mean feat. Sligo have an average attendance of around 2,000 - it's not really viable for a club in Ireland to have a player contracted any longer than a year or two, so the advantage will always be with the English club vis-a-vis transfer fees.
too many players gone over and failed why would they pay 1mil for an untried and tested player.
i think loi clubs need to be smarter in how they conduct the clauses perhaps the fai should have a contract lawyer they pay and all clubs can use for this sorta thing.say he plays 10 games its exponential 20 etc in multiples of 100k. capped at 50 as proven pfemiership or championship player by that stage.smart logical cute thinking.

[QUOTE=tetsujin1979;1501505]Reading paid the release clause in Doyle's contract with Cork, nothing disrespectful there.
Cork had a sell on clause on Doyle, but with their financial restraints, Reading offered to pay it off and they did. A few weeks later he went to Wolves and Cork lost out on 100s of thousands.
