Seamus Coleman has conceded 3 penalties in the PL League since the start of 2013/14. Only Koscielny has caused more in that time (4).

    interesting stat.

His legendary luck, as first identified by geysir, has deserted him this year but I have no doubt he'll rediscover it in future, especially if he moves to Chelsea.

3 pens in nearly 2 full seasons where he has been virtually ever present. That's about 1.5 per season. The guy's a liability.

Nothing particularly against Chelsea but would not like to see Coleman going there.
It's not done a lot for another good full back, Filipe Luis.

the number of penalties per season are on the increase too, in twenty years I fully expect him to be giving away at least one a game

Seamus is a very attacking fullback. He may not be the best defender in the world but his all round game more than compensates.

Maybe a mad suggestion but wouldn't Seamas be a great full back for a club like Barcelona. I would take Seamas over Daniel Alvaes(gone way past his best) any day.

Seamus as a great attacking full back would suit the Barcelona style of play.

If this happens I want a small percentage of the signing on fee.

You have to speculate to accumulate, yes he may give away the odd penalty but what
about the time when he prevents a goal with out the foul being spotted?

I'd say he is comfortable in the red in that respect.

I agree with Paul's observation that he sometimes gets suckered into getting the wrong side resulting in him clipping heels or tugging his opponent but it's hardly a fatal error and I suspect if he curbed his attacking instincts (who'd want him to do that?) he'd get caught the wrong side less frequently.

I thought he got forward brilliantly at times against Poland. The Watford winger will need keeping an eye on in Dublin though. Poland had nothing like that kind of threat in Dublin.

Man Utd linked with Coleman again.

    http://www.espnfc.com/story/2506131/...seamus-coleman

A number of players have been linked to fill the role, including Barcelona's Dani Alves and Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne, but United have missed out on the pair with Alves signing a new deal at the Camp Nou and England international Clyne on the verge of a move to Liverpool.

And sources say United are now ready to pursue a move for Coleman, a long-term target for the Old Trafford club, who considered making a move for the Irishman during the January transfer window.

I can guarantee that if Coleman joins United they might give away a penalty sometime.

I'd go one further and say the mere suggestion they're interested in Coleman will guarantee they give away a penalty at some point.

The domestic league is a waste.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

There seems to be zero evidence of anything, but in particular that he is United's third choice. Obviously most big clubs would have been interested in Dani Alves if he became available, but it's not like they were actively testing Barca's resolve. As for Clyne... did they even make a bid? Surely if they were really interested they would have been going tit for tat with offers as Liverpool even had one or two turned down. If they do end up getting Coleman I'd be inclyned to think it was their intention all along. I make no apologies for the pun.

Sky sources have this now as well so hopefully there's something to it.

I've read that Van Gaal lost interest in Clyne in the backend of last season, wasn't impressed with his form during the run-in, so went on to Alves, now Coleman.

United certainly need someone who knows what they are doing in that position, Valencia really doesn't cut it there. After the crazy money shelled out for Fellaini, Everton will be in no hurry to accept a first offer, even if its a different manager.
