I know this is depressingly old ground, but I am still not sure what is the score with Nolan? Has he represented England in a competitive game? How old was he at the time? What exactly is the criteria for players who have represented one Association changing allegiance? Should Joe Kinnear be encouraging him to think again or even just get his elegibility established once and for all.

Could someone post a link of the previous thread? I'm curious as to the answer as well. I realize he won't ever be able to play for us but I'd like to know the rule inside out, just for my own benefit. Thanks.
I care. I realize he isn't eligible. When our starting CM partnership consists of Darron Gibson and Glen Whelan with Liam Miller there for cover, I'd take anyone with a remotely sounding Irish last name! If Arteta was eligible you can bet I'd be leading the online petition to get him in our squad!

Colbert, please take a little more thought before you list off names like that.
Houghton - Irish father (not vague in my book) but I accept that Scotland would have been his first choice. He would admit that himself. A legend all the same.
Aldridge and Townsend - both players qualified through grandparents and would admit that Ireland was their second choice so these two might sit correctly in your list. I would never doubt the commitment of either player though once they made their decision.
Sheridan - nothing vague or second choice on this one. Irish parents. Played for Ireland at all the underage levels when he was already a rising star at Leeds.
McCarthy - again, like Sheridan, there is nothing vague about this one. A Waterford father who encouraged his kids to keep their Irish heritage.
Jack Charlton - As English as they come. He was the manager so there is no requirement to qualify. I'm glad we had him. He adds nothing to your already facetious post.
Bernie Slaven and Andy O'Brien might have made your point better.

Maybe..but I think the over-riding point was that we don't care if fellas aren't Irish once they put on da green!!
