As usual the FAI have made things complicated but is appears to be good new for us that if we stay in 4th and qualify for the playoff final we'll have the second leg at home and more importantly at the weekend as opposed to having our biggest game in years played on a Wednesday afternoon. The bizarre FAi rule of giving the higher placed team the choice of venues in the semi may not be as favourable to us and i'd suspect that our premier opponents will choose to come to Limerick on the Wednesday and have the second leg at home.Originally posted by LFC in Exile
The draw for home venue in this season's eircom League
promotion/relegation playoff final was made at Monday night's (November
17th) meeting of the eircom League Management Committee.
As a result, the winners of the First Division 2nd place versus 3rd
place semi-final will be at home in the first leg of the final against
the winners of the Premier Division 9th place versus First Division 4th
place semi-final.
In both semi-finals and the final, in the event that the scores are
level after the two matches, the away goal rule will not apply. Thirty
minutes extra time of two fifteen minute periods will be played. If the
sides are still level, penalty kicks will be used to decide the outcome.
The fixtures are attached below for reference.
