A pubic meeting: seems like a winner for football clubs to attract more supporters...

Mixed feelings about the meeting last night. First off attendance was very poor approx 40 people. Makes you wonder some times

The meeting was supposed to be chaired by an indepependent party this did not take place. It was chaired by Ralph (PRO) and presided over by Noel Hanly our Secretary who left half way through

The discussions mainly centred around the dtructure of the club and where we would play football next year. They (the Club) had no preparatory work done prior to the meeting with regard to any of the issues. They proposed 1.. A registered company and 2..A members group which was more popular. In Fact JP was the only person in favour of option:1

No Sporting body has been contacted with regard to playing there next year in the case of Promotion

Meeting ended with a promise of another meeting and some more LDMC baiting. Very Frustrating indeed and also very Disapointed in the SUPPORTERS CLUB turnout...Does anyone care about the future of this club????

John, I was hoping for news from the meeting and I am diappointed too at the report you've posted and while others will say they are not surprised I am surprised at the lack of imagination and energy from the committee even at this stage.

I think the players have shown they care and the structures do need to change - however I feel that time is against us.

I think it is clear now that the club can't go forward with the current voluntary board. I don't think the numbers matter as much as the energy and commitment of the people involved. 10 very committed people are better than 100 spoofers.

It is important that the SC don't rely on anyone else (including the club itself) to do anything to save this club. It is up to them. I think we have waited to see what the club will offer or do all along and it has not delivered. I firmly believe that the only thing that will save the club now is a supporters trust- properly established and managed. The SC don't need the voluntary committee to set this up.

I can appreciate the disillusionment of a low turnout after the effort put in by the SC in recent months. However, if 40 people there (and the few not living in Limerick who would have been there) are committed that's enough to start something.

Agree but who is willing to do the work ? I have seen it myself in the supporters club this year there are a few people working while some are happy to talk about it .

The SC is not about the officers it is about all members doing their bit. You have done a lot of work re Politicians etc and I would expect nothing less from an active member of the club. The problem we have is that if a SC trust is set up do we have the numbers of people willing to do the hard, Thankless tasks inovlved in running a club.

From the meeting last night it seems the concensus is for a members type club with Committee, AGM, Audited Accounts etc. This is what we have been looking for a while. This will all be decided at the next meeting in a few weeks time.If this is to happen we now need people to get involved willing to do the work

Guys - has anyone noticed the typo in the thread title......

    - Can a mod edit it? I can just see the learned academics on the committee chuckling in their taxis!
