FAI appoint four Development Officers for Limerick

The Football Association of Ireland have announced that it has appointed Barbara Bermingham, Pat Halpin, Tommy Barrett and Michael McCarthy as Development Officers for Limerick city. These posts are supported by the Limerick Regeneration Agencies in recognition of the role that sport, and in particular soccer, can play in promoting social inclusion in the city.

Speaking at the launch, Brendan Kenny, Chief Executive of the Limerick Regeneration Agencies said; “I am delighted to announce these new appointments. The FAI Development officers will play a vital role within the Limerick community. They will provide individuals, including children, with an opportunity to meet, to develop their social skills and to promote active citizenship by encouraging volunteerism and community involvement. It will also provide new immigrants coming into the county an opportunity to integrate into their new communities.”

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

I'm sure the reason no one has made any comment on this at all is that we're dumbfounded to find good news, which it certainly is, on this forum. Fair Play and good luck to those involved.

Hmmm might be the fact that we have all already read about this in the local press last week too.

Precisely, now it's been confirmed as truth.

Are these appointments aimed more at local soccer or LFC?

Well Limerick are your local senior side but im sure the new appoinments are to help local junior and schoolboy and girl teams in coaching and in general sports participation which is the buzz phrase for all sports bodies these days
