Givens strikes again....

The man is clearly an arse, how he's still in a job is utterly beyond me.
Treacy told the Irish Daily Star: “There were crossed wires somewhere along the line and I’ve been made out here as a bad boy. I rang Don when the squad for [February’s] Germany game came out and apologised about the whole situation.
“That wasn’t good enough for him – he told me he’d never play in his team again and put the phone down on me.
“I’m finding this very hard to take. Playing for my country means everything for me and I’ve been doing it since I was 14.”
So thats Tracey, McCann, Stokes, Ireland.
Im sure there is more. Maybe its actually Givens that has the problem and not all these youngsters. His man management is a bloody shambles and that alone should be a sackable offence. Im not even going to go into his results.
The guy sounds like a nutcase.
There was also such a "misunderstanding" with David Connolly when Givens was caretaker boss after McCarthy left (against Greece i think). So he hasn't just had problems with the youngsters. Connolly would have been about 25 then.
Come to think of it that was 6 and a half years ago. Is he going to be U-21 boss until his retirement?![]()
He's 59 now so another 6 years of this sh!te?
I just had a look at his career on his wiki page and you would have to say that it looked like a good appointment at the time, with his Arsenal youth academy experience, but he has been anything but good over the last 8 to 9 years.

It's really too bad that Ireland playing legends like Stan and Givens have ruined their reputations by being horrible managers- I just wish Stan had admitted that he wasn't up to it after the bad start, or that Givens would have walked away by now.
The U-21 team is a springboard for the senior team, and its importance should not be underestimated.
Ritchie Foran to back in the day
Don Givens would cause a riot in a creche ! !
Was flicking between this and the Munster - Warriors game tonight.
Atrocious conditions, but still a good (if slightly undeserved) win over a technically sound Spanish side. The result is slightly more impressive considering the players that were missing - McCarthy, Treacy(sigh), Scannell, and I'm pretty sure Stokes is still eligible.
The opening goal from O'Shea was extremely fortunate, the Spanish keeper punched clear the ball from a free kick. Unfortunately it hit the defender standing in front of him and O'Shea hit it with his knee to force the ball home. The second goal was far superior, with O'Shea involved again. The West Ham target beat 2 men on the near side, before chipping the full back to release the speedy Sheridan. A quick, low cross from the Celtic striker was dummied by Garvan for Judge to smash home, for a two goal cushion.
The Spanish got one back from a cleared corner, a long shot into a crowded area rebounded to their striker who finished from close range, despite calls for offside.
It could have been more, as Garvan had a shot from the half way line that only just cleared the crossbar. A bizarre own goal was narrowly averted for the Spanish when, following a save low down from the keeper, the full back decided to hammer the ball back to him only for the Spanish number one to react and clear the ball with an outstretched leg.
Waterford's Eddie Nolan got the home town decision for the MOTM, although I thought O'Shea was the other main candidate.
A fine win, and sets the group of players up for Tuesday's qualifer with the Turks.
Didn't Don Givern have a bust up with one Stephen Ireland?
Fair enough, like I said, I was flicking between it and the Munster game, just everything positive seemed to go through O'Shea. Nolan was definitely far superior to his partner in central defence, Dennehy.
Didn't think much of Meyler or Gleeson either tbh, both gave away possession needlessly a few times.
