    New manager

Press release issuing shortly apparently, but it's Martin Russell (in a major shock), with Maccer assisting. Paul Somers has left the club, and there'll be a new coach coming in.

Also confirmed that Podge is playing GAA solely this year. Ended one goal short of the top ten goalscorers. It also means the last trace of Doolin has now left.

    Harsh label for McWalter.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

No, Diarmuid McNally. Works football for the club- basically runs the thing. As a coach he was in charge of the top LSL team (I think) and assistant manager of the A Team and U20s.

I thought he wasn't very good when Doolin signed him, and said as much before he won me over with a fine work ethic. I've never sunk to calling him a "trace of Doolin". That's just harsh. Really, I think you should apologise to him.

It was a joke. Sorry Podge!

    Also, Maccer's not 100% confirmed.

They don't fall out of trees. We may have to offer to lend a hand.

That's a great photo. I'm sure it'll appear in Stig before long.

Has any pre-season games being lined up? Surely Russell will need one or two even if he knows the squad

UCD AFC appoint Martin Russell as Manager

UCD AFC have today (Saturday) announced the appointment of Martin Russell as Manager of its senior teams.

Russell, who has been with the club since 2005 as first-team coach and then as assistant to former boss Pete Mahon said: "I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to continue working with the Club and hope to build on the tremendous work carried out by my predecessor Pete Mahon.

"My initial focus is to continue to strengthen the Club's Scholarship programme and develop a team that will be able to challenge for honours"

Not yet. But sure he knows the players from training, and we never have any friendlies lined up at this stage. There's still six weeks to the new season. I'd say the first one will be in a couple of weeks though. Usually fit in three or four.
