Seen the line up for the Bray game yesterday and a Robert Douglas came on for them. Is that the same lad that played for us last season? Daire Doyle started and Lynch came on for them also.

Yes AFAIK it's the same Douglas, Daire played very well and Lynch did ok for time he was on,they all done well for their first Pre-season game against an decent Shelbourne side that included Hynes, Baker, Doherty,Brennan to name a few.

The new kit isn't ready yet. It's uhlsport, a sample was on show in the clubhouse without crest or sponsor on it though. It's fairly basic, as Marty says quite like the O'Neills gear of years ago. I'm sure you'll see it in due course Pauro!.

Real sign of things to come I think !!! Going from a quailty international brand to a lesser, infearior and poorer quaility brand. Uhlsport - Great for keepers but a nightmare for the outfield players.
Back to the joggers nipple causing 80's material, aaaaggggghhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!

I thought the previous lowest we could go was ACS.
    Some Uhlsport horrors.

Apparently the club were looking around to see which company would give them the best deal on gear for the team. It is some come down from Umbro but Umbro weren't doing us any favours we had to pay full whack for every single bit of gear we got from them last year for the team. I don't know what uhlsport are doing but it must be a better bet than the other companies because as far as I know Jako, O'Neills etc were contacted. Still I was pretty disappointed with the gear on show I have to say from a fan's point of view. It all comes down to us not having any money again I guess!.

TBH I couldn't give a rats ass how it looks. The results are all I care about not how nice a shirt is to look at.

Yeah both teams played pretty much two different sides in both halves, with Sligo even using two different kits. What would be at a guess our subs and trialists played their Sligo counterparts in the first half and gave away two sloppy goals. Andy Bermingham gave away a penalty for the first after Chris Kelly needlessly gave the ball away and Bermingham again slipped for the second, not a great half from him unfortunately. In the second half we put on our stronger players and so did Sligo. It was a much faster and sharper half of football and we more than held our own pretty much for the whole half, Glynn hit the post and we were pressing for long spells without working the keeper too much in fairness. Sligo scored in the last minute or thereabouts to make it 3-0, a shot in off the post which Murphy almost got to.

There was a couple of trialists playing for us in the first half including a Latvian defender and an American striker, Martinho will provide details from his extensive notes tomorrow I'm sure!. Brian McCarthy played the second half for us as well so we must assume he's coming on loan. And yes, it was definitely him. Best for the Town on the night would be Ray Kenny who looks like he'll be a very important player for us and perhaps Liam Lynch who put in a hard working shift up front in the second half.

What was he like? He was with UCD on trial last week and although they though highly enough of him the figured centre back isn't a prioity position for them. The way I see it is with McCarthy coming in we're not really stuck for a CB with Kenny, Clarke and Bermingham there as well. I'd say another striker is a more urgent.

He looked alright, he's a big lad and won a few balls in the air and looked fairly decent positionally. He was playing right back for us for most of the first half. You'd have to see more of him to make a proper judgment but as you say we're not too badly off for defenders.

Oh yeah I knew that what I meant was "one" would have to see more of him!. The American lad didn't make much of an impact but neither did anybody else in that half really.

As if. Wex was the best American player in the club's history. Fact. Probably.
