Well are all these people you talk of going to the showgrounds, No there not! On average there's under 2,000 people in the showgrounds for a Rovers game.
The Champions coverage of GAA covers many clubs and the county, teams senior and underage. Half those who play junior/underage soccer in sligo don't give a flying sh1t about Sligo Rovers, therefor the they care not about the column inches dedicated to Rovers in the champion and may even dare i say, take more interest in the GAA reports. I'm typing up a questionnaire to justify last sentence and provide fact for you.
So your argument doesn't really stand up. Just becasue you play soccer doesn't mean you want to read about Sligo Rovers.
Whats that comin' over the hill

Stick to the Gaa lad because I havent a clue what your argument is.
None of this makes sense in relation to the previous message I posted. The numbers in Sligo playing Association and Gaa are pretty even. Where did I make any comparison to Sligo Rovers and the local junior scene or make any reference to the Champion? Actually the Champion reporting on the Gaa scene anyway isnt great anyway usually pages and pages of the local clubs diary's for the week and photos of the most recent barn dance. Not what you call reporting.
If Rovers played two home "championship" games in three years they probably would get a huge crowd as well. Gaa has always been a minority sport in Sligo town, it was 91 years after the formation of the Gaa they formed St. Marys, the only club in town, which was mainly frequented by police and teachers from other regions. Sligo Gaa have lived through a golden age the past seven years but the party's over now. Soccer in Ireland has always been the number one game for the urban working class and Gaa for the buffs
And the buffs buy newspapers.
Give us a break guys, you have made your points, move on, after all The Champion has been supporting junior and senior soccer for many years.
St. John's would be considered a town clubSt. Marys, the only club in town,
