    Gill for Drogheda?

    http://www.eleven-a-side.com/eircoml...ws.asp?n=35496

So any other names been thrown around up there for the vacant spot?
Thats if there's a club existing within Drogheda by the start of the season.

Drogheda United FC would like to refute suggestions that we have spoken to individuals regarding the position of team manager for the 2009 season.

At this moment we are busy preparing for our Examinership hearing before the High Court on the 22nd January.

Should the courts decide to accept our scheme of arrangement on the 22nd we will then, and only then, begin preparing for the season ahead.

On behalf of Drogheda United Football Club

Of Course Drogheda would deny any manger talk reports

Whether the Irish Sun report is true or not, it is only to be expected that Drogheda would deny any suggestions of talks with a potential new manager - this could appear as presumtious or arrogant in advance of High Court hearing.

However I imagine that it would be negligent not to sound out suitable candidates - and John Gill would be a very suitable one. A man of passion and integrity, something that has been sadly lacking in many quarters of Drogheda United in recent times!

Clearly Drogheda United are too busy petitioning the administrator with sob stories to think about a new manager.

A step backwards for Gill if this is the case.
Drogheda will be a poison chalice next season. No matter which division they are in they will be the whipping boys.
Great to see a return to normallity.

Yes, lets petition the administrator to bend the rules and give us mercy, while keeping the man who drove the club into the mire. No sympathy for that club until they've got Hoey out. At least Rovers had the fans take over, and Cork weren't exactly in a position to have Arkaga stick around, considering Arkaga left them high and dry.

Darius Kierans...give me a break. He has only managed the U17's and whilst he has done a good job there are far better managers out there. I'm sure they'd opt for local neighbours Drogheda Towns Manager Terry Eviston before giving the job to Darius Kierans.

CSFShels, a very confused post there.

I dont see how an examiner (administator is in the UK) can bend any legal rules. Please do tell or is it just a baseless rant? Maybe you should report it to the judge, I am sure he wouldnt want the examiner breaking or bending rules.

Secondly as far as I am aware (and most Drogs) Hoey will be leaving the club after the examinership (pop goes that bubble).

Always liked shels and posted such during your difficulties, expressed how I hope ye get back to the preimer soon enough but given the amont of shels fans coming out of the wood work to try and kick us when we are down in recent weeks has made me revise that opinion.

Many anti drog posters on thsi site (you know who you are) have had the good grace to comment but not gloat and feed off our current position, pity the same cant be said of you.

Listen if we are relegated (or whatever happens), shels will not be replacing us) get over it.

None of my posts in this thread have anything to do with Shels, not a hope we're going up, even if a 2nd team lost their licence.

To address some other points, what I was saying wasn't baseless, theres a thread on boards.ie with a tonne of letters sent by Drogs fans begging the examiner not to put them out of business.

And I actually amn't anti Drogs at all, I was up for them to win the league last season and all. Nor am I gloating or feeding off the position really. I just wanna see the fair thing done, if Drogheda do get the required amount of money together, they deserve to stay in business.

The letters are being sent to the examiner who will pass some onto the judge for consideration, as available in ALL cases of examinership.

It gives the judge a chance to see things like importance to the community etc which cannot be recorded simply in the numbers. This can then affect his decision on whether to accept the proposal or not.

It could be the difference between the judge forcing the revenue to accept 25% when they are challenging it and want more.

If the judge feels the business is worth saving then this is his choice.

The judge knows what he's doing I'd imagine
