I would not believe that any club has submitted there financials yet so would expect that licensing is highlighting clubs who have overspend last season and are reminding them that they will not be allowed the same spending next season

FAI Take A Tough Stance
MARK McCADDEN
LEAGUE of Ireland clubs who enter into examiner-ship from next season will face tough new penalties.
The FAI will formulate a policy on the matter by the end of the month and some hard-hitting sanctions, designed to discourage clubs from going down such a route, are expected to be written into the 2009 Licensing manual.
It is believed that the new punishments will see clubs not only deducted points during the current season, but they would start the following campagin on minus points
OWED
Just how many depends on factors such as when a club goes into examinership and the amount owed to creditors.
Also, the directors of any club in examinership will be barred from holding office in the League of Ireland for a certain period of time.
And the appetite among clubs for tough new measures is believed to be strong, with one club representative saying: "There is a realisation that serious action has to be taken."
Cork City and Drogheda United both went into examinership last season and were each deducted ten points.
Now that is excellent. Five years is suitable, I think. Let's see how it gets implemented.Originally Posted by article
Bans should be for life. And it should be back dated to include the likes of Kilcoyne and Duncan too

Duncan?
Tut tut pineapple. I thought you'd know all the people responsible for various clubs crashing.
He was involved with St Francis, then sold them out pretty quickly for the proposed merger with Pats. When that didn't happen he todlled off to Tony maguire's Rovers (in the mean time cosying up to Ollie Byrne) and was instrumental in the near collapse of them too. The man is poison. We only had him for a couple of months and still haven't recovered properly

St Francis is kind of only a vague memory, TBH. Remember them "merging" with youz; don't remember any of the details. Only started following the financial fun when Seery came on the scene and Ollie started getting into trouble.
Ah yes, Mr. Three Clubs as one of our directors called him to his face one time. Cue much spluttering and indignation..
Went up to Saratoga, where my horse naturally won.
Definitely should be backdated. About time this has happened. Fair play FAI.
Lets redefine what it means to heal
No complaints if it's more obviously.
Don't know if it can be backdated legally?
For the record, I was kidding about it being backdated (as much as I'd love to see it happening)
