I;m sure people will all have different opinions on this, so I saw something similar in the main EL forum and thought it might be interesting.
For me, well there are a few, the sweetest being John Whytes penalty to beat Derry 2-1 in the first leg in the LC Final in 02. He showed some pair of balls to put that away that night. Brendan Storans winner in the Cup final in 82 I will always remember, but the best has to be the absolute screamer Paul 'Beckenbauer' Finucane scored against Dublin City in Richmond Park in 2005. Don't know if anyone was there, but God above, What A Goal!!![]()
Colin Scanlon. End of debate.![]()
Ha ha that Paul Finucane goal was scored on me!! Possibly the best goal Ive ever conceded!!
4th official"Dermot, relax with the swearing" .Keely"Ah its grand, he's me son"
Andy McEvoy scored some crackers in his day but that was before I was watching Limerick.
Tony Meaney's nerves in slotting the penalty to win the league. Des Kennedy in the Barnabeu and tony Morris at the Dell were nice however as a goal I'd pick Tommy Gaynor v Athlone 1982. He was either 17 or just 18, 15 minutes to go in a tense tight cup semi final replay at Tolka v the reigning league champions. He was cleanthorugh on goal against a very experienced Mick Smyth who he dummied to go sprawling one way as Tommy calmly rolled the ball into the other corner. We won 1-0 and went on to win the final.
2nd place goes to Eoin Hand in Kilcohan Park 1980 - 3-1 up pulled back to 3-3. 5 mins left and Tony Morris scores a stunning winner only for the referee to call it back for a free to Limerick. With the crowd baying for blood Eoin Hand clmly puts down the ball and stuck it in the same top corner that Tony Morris had done 30 seconds earlier. The ref still cost Tony Morris a grand as the first player to score 20 league goals that season.
Kevin waters free kick against athlone last season in Limerick 37's 1st ever home game(jackman park) wat a cracker
