A great player who is probably a bit too good for us and our style of play.
Best of luck Mark.
Former Cork City midfielder Mark Herrick has left the club for Galway United. Reports and rumours started to service last week but a report today in a galway newspaper confirmed that Herrick has signed for the Connacht strugglers (is he mad)
ALthough Herrick was studying in UCC and had one left, he has arranged to transfer course to UCG, where he will finish his studies.
Herrick hadnt featured in any of city's last few games and was only playing as an over age player with the U21's where he was scoring regularly
Galway United play $helbourne tonight in Tolka and Mark is expected to start for his old club.
personally i'm a bit disapointed to go

we kind thought it was going to happen as well,
up in galway when we saw Terry Dunne at a match we kinda guessed something was up. when was the last time he was at an away game. probably the last time we sold a player

Very sorry to see Herro going, but he was always a star on the Galway scene so I suppose that's a lot more attractive than U21 games to an established player. Best of luck to him, I just hope City don't regret it again in the future, like we did in THAT League Cup final when he destroyed us!
All the best, Mark!

BTW, why can't these things ever come to pass *before* print deadlines?
dont worry Gerry I'm sure those fourfiveone fanzine people will pick up the story

Ah, yes, the joys (and advantages) of going to print whenever you feel like it...Originally posted by James

Somewhere along the way Continental Airlines lost my luggage and in it was the shirt which Mark Herrick gave me after the Shels game last season. Then I come into work today to hear that the club has gone and lost the player!
Have Boot Disk, will travel

They aren't called continental airlines for nothing. Any ideas what continent it ended up in? And it would have become a collectors item too!!!Continental Airlines lost my luggage and in it was the shirt which Mark Herrick gave me after the Shels game last season.
and thank God for his sake he wasnt yet registered for the debacle against bray. currently galway are losing 3-0 and by all accounts it should be alot more
I wonder does herro know what he's got himself into

I think the majority of City fans will have good memories of Marks time in the team. Some cracking goals and the level of commitment made him one of the leagues better midfielders for quite a while.
I imagine his departure will weaken the squad particularly when the injuries and suspensions can mount up.
But who cares when the suits have another couple of grand to play (golf?) with.Originally posted by Bernie
