I get where some of ye where coming from with how close we where to losing that game but that is sport.

The penalties given away the inconsistency of Barnes in some areas of his decision making none of this really matters Ireland won and that what the record books will show.

Parisse was brillaint, definitely better than Heaslip (and he was great).

Only changes I'd make to that are Mears, Ferris and Armitage.

Two Italian teams to join the Magners Celtic League.

    --------------------------------

The Celtic Rugby Board has agreed in principle to introduce two Italian teams into the Magners League.

The board has advised the Italian Rugby Federation that it is considering the move in time for the start of the 2010-11 season.

If that went ahead, it would see the Magners League increasing in size from 10 to 12 teams.

The board says it would be subject to certain conditions in terms of playing and facility standards.

"[The conditions] fall under main headings of playing and facility standards, finance and commercial including television. This will be a comprehensive process and will take some time," said a Celtic Rugby statement.

"The board therefore decided that participation could not commence before 2010-2011 season."

Welsh Rugby Union chief Roger Lewis welcomed the introduction of an Italy presence in the Magners.

"This is an exciting possibility for the Magners League and for Welsh rugby and for Welsh fans," said the WRU chief executive.

"But there are a number of hurdles that need to be jumped before [it happens].

"What they [the Italians] have to do is satisfy the criteria from the rugby perspective and put in teams that can add to the competition and certainly hold their own."

At the moment the main clubs in Italy are Calvisano and Treviso, who both competed in this year's Heineken Cup.

Those two teams play in a 10-club Italian League, but it could be that the Celtic League board look to have one of their two Magners teams based in Rome.

Rugby chiefs hope having two Italian teams in the Magners League would help to develop the national team, who were whitewashed in this season's Six Nations and who have struggled to compete on a consistent basis since entering the tournament in 2000.

    ---------------------

Good for Italian rugby and the Magners League, certainly in the long term.

Having Italian teams in the Magners League can only help them develop the game further in Italy and plus somewhere new to go

Fully deserved. I can see O'Driscoll getting the IRB world player of the year also. If Leinster progress to the Heineken Cup final and win, which is a big 'if,' he would be a certainty. Remember that Shane Williams got the award last year solely based on his performances for Wales in their 6 nations grand slam. O'Driscoll's performances this campaign have been superior to that of Williams in last years tournament.

Well deserved, absolutely immense in the tournament, delighted for him. Would love to see him have a proper crack at the Lions captaincy too after what happened to him in New Zealand
    Its really not that complicated!!!

I'm not sure it'll make that much difference for the Magners League, tbh. The main benefit would be for Italian rugby, and for the progress of the sport in Europe. I suspect they'll end up with two "provincial" sides rather than existing clubs.

Contepomi choked again last weekend as Munster embarrassed Leinster.

Unsure whether bringing in a few players can rescue Leinsters season next weekend. Either way will need a big clear out from D4 at the end of the season. Horgan should be moved out to pasture...

One plus for Leinster is Rocky Elsom deciding to stay on, he's looked immense this season - head and shoulders above a lot of them, I reckon Heaslip's improvement has had a lot to do with playing alongside Elson.

Contepomi played like a tart the other night, looks like he doesn't care anymore

I wouldn't think there's that much wrong. The pack is functioning pretty well, and the backline is pretty much the slam winning one. It's the half backs that's the issue. If Reddan comes (as is rumoured) it's probably time to give Sexton his head as first choice out half and/or bring back Keatley.

Earls scored another quality try. I also read that Munster are looking to offload Tipoki at the end of the season. It will be Earls benefit that he did not play for Ireland in this years 6 Nations.

Ireland should move O'Driscoll to inside centre & play Earls on the outside next season as he is good enough now.
