Regarding the verdict, I cannot believe it's true. We waited and we wondered, I was surprised at how quick the verdict came, I thought we would have to wait one more night. We've heard both sides of the story, but I think the CCTV showed the true colours of him. Premiership footballers dont live seperate lives to normal people, but they always escape punishment, that's just the way it is. Gerrard has a bad reputation now, he might think the verdict means he can live yet another day in paradise, but the whole incident should be a wake up call to him.

Its ridiculous. If I punched someone in a bar, and it was all caught on CCTV, but I said I only did it in self defence, do you think I would be found not guilty? Not a chance. Its a joke.

I understand that, but my point is do you honestly believe any of us "normal" people would be treated the same way?

You can surely see that Gerrard did wrong? I'm simply baffled at the verdict. I've acted in self defence before (after getting punched in the head from behind) and if my resulting actions brought me to court then I'd expect to be found not guilty. However if I had went up to the bloke first and sparked him out without any provocation I'd expect to be serving a bit of bird or at the very least be doing some gardening at some old folks home.

gerrard admits to court he threw 3 uppercuts in self defense !!! and jury also see cctv evidance ....

jury deceides gerrard not guilty of affray as acting in self defense the other six people have all pleaded guilty to charges of assualt/ affray .... looks like deal done and his mates take the punishment . i'm sure stevie g will ensure they are well rewarded .. seems yet again another preimer league player escapes punishment ... i wonder why he was just not charged with assualt / gbh !!

Judge Henry Globe told him: "The verdict is a credible verdict on the full facts of this case, and you walk away from this court with your reputation intact.

"You did not start the violence, it was started by the violent elbowing of Marcus McGee in the face by one of your friends John Doran.

"At all times you insisted that you only ever acted in what you believed was reasonable self-defence to what you understandably, albeit you accept mistakenly, believed was an attempted attack upon you by Marcus McGee.

"What at first sight to the casual observer may seem to have been a clear-cut case against you of unlawful violence, has been nowhere near as clear-cut upon careful analysis of the evidence."

You'd have needed someone like Henry Fonda from Twelve Angry Men to convince that jury to convict Mr. Gee.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

take of your liverpool blinkers here ... ok john doran elbowed marcus mc gee in face why then did mc gee deceide to attack gerrard ?? and why did gerrard with 6 mates backing him up use 3 uppercuts in self defense in his own words.. what self defense if john doran elbowed mc gee to start row ...
if you got elbowed in face you would go after the person who done it .. and why then is it not just john doran up on charges and why did 6 0f the 7 people involved in the cowardly assualt plead guilty .. but yet gerrard is the only one who pleads not guilty and the only 1 of seven men who acted in self defense
rafa if me our you had done the same thing in limerick what do you honestly think the outcome would have been .....

Its a joke IMO. But it could work out ok. Next time I see LOI ref Alan Kelly I'm gonna run into his elbow then hit him 3 times and claim it was self defence.

Just out of interest. Charges of affray (probably the next public order offense up from breach of the peace) are in Irish courts every day by the dozen. Why was there a jury involved in this case? Surely if your average joe pleads not guilty to a relatively minor charge like this they wouldn't have a full jury on it?
