Heard today from a shams member that we will be playing them in Tallaght, their 1st home league game, on Paddy's weekend. No word if it will be Friday or Saturday.

Rovers’ budget OK kickstarts transfers
By: Robert Cullen
SLIGO Rovers have been given the green light by the FAI to sign players for the forthcoming season after the governing body approved the club’s budget for the 2009 season.
Rovers had been in talks with a number of players and it is understood they had agree-ments in place with at least two of those players, Stephen Parkhouse and Owen Morrispon, and possibly a third, Sligo native Alan Cawley, but were unable to sign them to a contract until the budget received approval,
Sligo Rovers chairman Michael Toolan confirmed that the FAI had approved the club’s budget and said Sligo Rovers would announce in the coming days the signing of three players, which he would only describe as “a striker, a midfielder and a defender”.
He added that, because of the strict budget, Sligo Rovers are unlikely to be announcing any new major signing before the season starts in late February.
“Things will be quietening down after this [the signing of three players],” said Toolan.
“Everyone in the League of Ireland is in the same positing of having to tighten our belts because the way the economy is going.”
“We must stay within the budget approved by the FAI so there won’t be much more activity.”
Meanwhile, an announcement on the future of full-back Seamus Coleman is also expected later this week. “The position with Seamus Coleman is that there are still two clubs talking to Sligo Rovers about buying him,” said Toolan. “The talking is positive in one direction and we should have an announcement in the next few days on this.”
Who do ye think will be the 3 players to be announced ?
IMO:
Striker: Stephen Parkhouse
Midfielder: Owen Morrison
Defender: Seamus Sharkey ?
Coleman for Ireland
The defender is a left-back from Finn Harps afaik.

It is definately a left full from Harps.. Im not sure of his name though!
awful dry around here...
Shaun Holmes i think, I dont really rate him too highly but thats why I'm not the gaffer....
Surely the LOI won't have sorted out even provisional fixtures yet will they? That would imply that they were actually organised wouldn't it?
Plus, from a personal point of view that'd be a terrible time to visit Tallaght as a flight to Dublin and a place to stay on Paddy's weekend would bankrupt me and I've the Europa Cup adventure to save for!!!
Keep on keepin' on.
Strangely enough i've always noticed him as a good player with harps though I thought Derry City were in for him a while back. He'd be very good cover imo while chris butler is out. From what i've seen of him he's all left foot but he definately can play.Would of thought sharkey was the one being announced
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!
