The Republic of Ireland will be looking towards their traditional fighting spirit and a large, colourful and vociferous support to help them in their quest for success at the FIFA World Youth Championship UAE 2003. Drawn in an open-looking Group E alongside Saudi Arabia, Côte d’Ivoire and Mexico, coach Gerry Smith is optimistic everything will be right when the new moon rises after Ramadan.
Like those sides that have done so well in recent years, Smith will once again be calling on the “Irish spirit” to give his team the edge in the even-looking group.
