Shamrock Rovers FC and Notre Dame Basketball Club to form association.

In an effort to develop and encourage a sense of community and identity
in the Tallaght area two of the biggest Superpowers in Irish Sport are coming
together. From 14th November Notre Dame Basketball club will be renamed
as Shamrock Rovers Basketball Club (HOOPS).

This association is a first in Irish Sport and a further effort by both
codes to cement their position within the local South County Dublin Community.
The future will see both these famous sporting clubs competing at the highest
level in European competition.

Press Conference on the 14th November 2003.
Venue :The Plaza Hotel, Tallaght.
Time : 1300 hrs

Rovers new stadium and the national basketball arena are almost on top of each other. It makes sense to try and build a sense of community around the Shamrock Rovers name, by having all sports coming out of tallaght bearing the Rovers 'brand' (so to speak).

Having a basketball team hasn't done Barcelona any damage.
