Dundalk changing to Friday nights

In a way i'm glad the games have changed to a Friday night as I think we will benefit from the huge away support and also the home games

I dont like the way Dundalk have to switch our games away from Thursday night as 'Thursdays nights are Oriel' and I liked us being different.

But then again I dont live in Dundalk full-time any more and moving to Friday suit me down to the ground as I miss 2/3s of home games.

Rumour Dundalk changed to Friday night home matches is that Connor likes to wine and dine on Thursdays!!......

In fairness I can't see our attendences being affected that much. The main possible loss is that we can't book the lilywhite lounge for a function on a friday.

Even if we do lose attendences the away fans coming will not compensate. Away fans dont travel in their couple of hundreds.

I am dissappointed that we are being coerced into this decision. If a dublin club was doing this nothing would be said IMO.

I prefer to see this as an opportunity though. DFC has now to compete with the greyhound/ horse stadium but if the team is winning then we shouldn't have a problem with attendences.

Dundalk race course have plenty of their fixtures on Friday nights. How does the traffic be usually heading up to these meetings? Could end up being a pain in the ****** for away fans. Also, if a group of lads had a choice between horse racing in good facilities with a few drinks or watching ****e football in a dilapidated ground- it's easy to see which one they'll be picking....

Not really, there is 3 turn offs from the Motorway to get to Dundalk (South, Town Centre and North) and the race course being at the North of the town people would/should be taking the North turn off but in saying that I would say most people would take the South turn off anyway and continue on the inner relief road. Even then they would only meet up on the junction beside Xerox so I cant see traffic being much of a problem.

Thursday nights and Friday nights are both weeknights, so there's no advantage gained/lost.

Dundalk haven't changed from Thursday nights, they'll still be playing them then, except when they have no choice but to play on Fridays, i.e. UEFA/Setanta Cup weeks only.

Not really because the bus depot is 20 mins walk from oriel and the train station is 2 mins from oriel...but not too sure when last train is going back to dublin but bus eireann run late enough me thinks!SO you would completely be avoiding the traffic up at the race course...its completely the opposite end of the town to oriel!!

There are no trains or buses back to Dublin after games. There are 24 hour buses between Dublin and Belfast but I think they are Ulsterbus ones that stop in Newry but not Dundalk.

Ulsterbus' buses stop in the jjb car park...dont know why but they do!

AirCoach stops in JJB carpark my friend, Ulsterbus stop at the depot!

Also with regards the pitch and advantages etc, would the fat that we play every other game on gras mean we had an unfair disadvantage in away games?

Thats an awful thing to say about our players....and before they've had pre-season
