What good football books have you read?

Recently bought "my father and other working class football heroes" by Gary Imlach. Havn't started it yet but am looking forward to it

Any other books any of you would recommend?

I know its not a football book (sorry!) but have just finished reading Trevor Brennan's biography "Heart and Soul"- not a bad read and gives a good insight into rugby life in France
but I was a bit disappointed that he didn't really say why he attacked the Ulster fan - at least what was said to him - does anybody on here know?

I read Robbie Fowlers autobiography, found it very good.

Tim Park's book is excellent. "There's only one red army" is another very good read. Nick Hornby's "Fever Pitch" is very good, that's my top 3 anyway off the top off me head

A book that hasn't been mentioned is Damned United. About Brian CLough's term at leeds (amongst other things). A fabulous book.

apologies if I wasn't meant to start this book thread, but couldn't find the others.Have yet to read the Damned Utd

recently read "Service Crew" about the LSC - Not Bad

best hooligan book is definitely "among the thugs" by Bill Bufford

Best autobiography I've read is Steve Claridge's, followed by Vinnie Jones

Worst is definitely David Batty's

Yeah, it brought me close to tears towards the end. If I wasn't on a bus at the time I probably would've cried.

I've re-read it since and it still felt fresh and brilliant.

Even though never really liked him Niall Quiin book is actually very good imo.

That story about Jack and Maurice with the video of the Bulgaria V Belgium game is priceless.

Dunphys player diary "Its only a game" is worth a read, its a wonderful insight into the world of the over the hill journeyman player. These books are usually awfully written but this one stands out. Its sad at times, hilarious at others and well worth a read.

correct Dodge, one of the very best. Addicted by Tony Adams, Big Pauls and another Clough one Provided you dont kiss me 20 years with Brian Clough.

Yeah, I got the "Provided You Don't Kiss Me" book first (having vaguely remembered someone recommending a book about Clough) and found it to be a great read. It kind of hgets forgotten due to the success of Damned united but together they'll give you a great insight into Clough (an immensely interesting character)

Here we go gathering Cups in May is a great book written by various Liverpool fans about their journeys to all their European Cup finals. It covers the joy of their wins, the famous almost 40 hour train journey to Rome and back in 1977 and the various antics they got up to and the dark side with Heysel and thieving and clashes with police. I've just finished it.
