    Close Season Predictions Competition

Perhaps we could all post our predictions on how the league will line up next year.... certainly a tricky one with the dramas unfolding all over the place!

Gotta say I'm thinking one senior division is looking increasingly likely to me.

I cant see 2 divisions this year. Drogheda,Athlone,Cork and Cobh still look like they have serious Licencing issues plus the money troubles at Bohs and Waterford put questions marks over their respective licencing applications.

My prediction is that after the 2nd week of the season, whatever teams that
were still in business long enough to start the season will go títs up and in
a weird twist UCD will claim the 1st Division, Premier Division, League & FAI
Cup titles ... all by default as the student grants and SU beer tokens
    covered their entire expenditure.

They will draw Real Madrid in the Champions League but due to match fixing
allegations the Spaniards will be thrown out, next up will be a tricky tie
against Liverpool but after the US investors pull out they will be forced to
fold the club at half time of the match despite being 12-0 in front and the
    Student will advance.

A series of comical if unprecedented events will pave the way for a semi final
    spot.

Due to injuries, UCD will have a depleted squad for the penultimate round
but a banking error will mean that the money RTE offered the FAI not to
produce MNS somehow winds up in the "Damn Students" coffers and they
manage to bail Glen Fitzpatrick out of a Vietnamese prison just in time to
make a glorious return to fire the Budweiser Boys into the final.

Then is a strange twist of fate, the final cannot be decided after 90 minutes
and a penalty shootout fails to produce a winner. After many on pitch
discussions, and much to the delight of the D4 outfit, UEFA declare that the
Champions will be decided on a spelling and grammar test.

While laughing about their amazing bout of good luck, the final UCD
contestant somehow forgets the "i before e, except after c" rule and
Faroeese Champions B36 ... who also had a rather unorthodox route to the
    final, will be crowned Champions!

I'm telling ya, thats whats going to happen!

And us signing playrrs out of nappies? Come on!

As a side-show, I think the "Who'll get into Europe" thread could be resurrected too.

Us to win the league again seeing as how it looks we'll still have a good chunk of our double winning squad with us next year. It won't be as convincing, we'll have a smaller budget but ironically it looks like we might go from fourth biggest budget to biggest even with the cuts.

Not dismissing your opinion but what are you basing Derry bridging the gulf that existed last season between us and them on? Just curious like

PS, Rovers in 9th? I'd love it but I don't think so.

I previously thought there was a chance of there being one big league next season but having heard nothing much about that at this stage I'd say there isn't any chance of that.

The composition of the divisions remains totally unclear though, but there's always a chance the whole thing will be fudged.

I don't see any chance of a single division next year. The only club likely to miss out on their premier division licence is Drogheda and they'd be replaced by Harps or, failing that, us.

    Wishful thinking

I'd change that a bit myself after reviewing my post... Drogs last, Bohs first, Rovers for 5th spot. and the rest stay same.
    Good evening!

Well Drogheda don't have any players and we're assembling a full time squad. I think Drogheda will do very well not to finish bottom.

What are your reasons for thinking Drogheda will finish ahead of us?

The FAI should hang their heads in shame if Drogheda are in next seasons Premier. It will make a complete mockery of the licensing system
