Come on the blues is right,we can do it and we'll get a draw friday night.Your right we have nothing to fear from any side were playing good football the best in division 1 all season and we deserve that fourth spot at least.
We now seem to be at a crossroads coming to the end of what has been a fantastic season on the pitch (somewhat of a disaster off it) and maybe its time to look ahead at the ramifications of not making the playoffs and gaining promotion.
If we get promoted, we stand to gain the following:
*Money...larger grants, gates and better revenue earning potential.
*The prospects of sharing Thomond Park, playing under lights, and gaining respectability on a national scale.
*Improving as a side by playing a higher level of opposition each week.
* Putting Limerick back on the map for POSITIVE reasons.
If we don't...the following will apply:
*No money...further disillusionment amongst the public, and no prospects.
*No ground, and no prospects of getting one. Thomond Park aren't going to turn on trhe lights for 100 people.
* Losing key players.Stevo, O'Mahoney, Sweeney would be certs to go, Paddy and Finny will also have to seriously consider their futures. That would leave us really in the mire.
In short, I believe that promotion is the 'easy' way of saving this club. If this is not attained, everything will have to be started from scratch. I'm not saying this is impossible, but would be a great shame for the players who have come so far, and for the dedicated few who brave the elements every week.
Remember, finishing 4th will give us home and away ties against Derry or Drogheda...both very winnable, and then its against opposition that we have done fairly well against all season, and remember...we're the form team coming in to this stretch.
C'MON THE BLUES!!!!
