And anyway, what interest does a fella who wont even support his own junior team let alone local LOI club have with what happens in Galway?

Looks like it will be terryland as the costs are to much at the moment to get Fahys Field up to standards, plus time to do the work is quickly running out

Has Terryland been confirmed yet? Or are Mervue going to play at their own ground?

Terryland was confirmed a few weeks ago there. Fahy's Field just aint suitable for LOI football at the mo, there's no seating there. Mervue will be upgrading their ground this season.

is the pitch to the right of the clubhouse their main pitch? is there any room for a stand and seats?

The pitch behind that clubhouse is where they play i think. There is room for expansion on the far side

Can anyone please tell me is there an Irish Spelling for Mervue United (Merbhú Aontaithe?) What is the origin of the name Mervue?

Thanks Patrick. From that answer then I think the name comes from the French/Latin basis Mer (sea) and Vue (view). I wasn't sure if it was that or an actual name of someone famous who lived in Galway. Interestingly enough there is a place in Athlone called Marine View and it also translates as Radharc na Mara.

As per match posters, entry fee to the matches will be E10.

Looks like two buses minimum travelling from Athlone on Friday and if you include all that might possibly drive down we could have 200+ supporters there

I reckon there will be a sizable home crowd. The whole novelty factor. Also I reckon they will sell quite a few season tickets. Mervue is and has always been well funded by the local community.

On another note I saw in the Sentinel this week that Mervue are running a bus to the game from the Mervue clubhouse!! Is there any other club in the league that runs a bus to their home games?
