    City join protest

Tonite's Echo reports that CCFC have joined the protest over the Marney Affair.

Who thinks this is the right step?
Who thinks Pats got off lightly?
Who thinks the League + Commissioner made the right decision?
Who thinks we should have a poll on this?
Who thinks Joe isn't sent on enough errands lately?

Deduct them 3 points and be done with it. At least there is a precedent set down then.

    lets not be harsh

what does the rule book say, that is always good to go by. After all it is in the interest of fairplay .... and who doesn't want that. It is nearly two clubs that made the mistake if you think of it, but what i cant understand is getting a receipt for a letter that is unregistered ... that is really strange, if not just pure stupid.

hey we werent the only ones there are 3 other clubs who lodged the appeal b4 us.
the simple facts are there are rules laid down by the FAI.
ye broke those rules, by not registering the player
The FAI didnt punish ye adequately by deducting points as they did to us against UCD way back. so club have rightly complained

whats your problem with it wws?

afraid ye wont get away with the appeal as ye did with the initial hearing?

    Unhappy Great eh?

IMO CCFC should have stayed out of this situation. The should appeal will be held whether 1 or 20 clubs complaint.

Seems like same old City been lobbied to join the posse, think something similar happened with the 10 team league which I though City opposed & wanted a 16 team division?

    James My problem....

is that it is an administrative misdemeanour (is that how you spell that?) there was absolutely no malice intended on behalf of saint pats by the incorrect registration of a Pats player (not you should note a new player - ask yourself what registrations are for???)...............plus we GAINED NOTHING by his incorrect registration.........commons sense noted these circumstances,,,,and we got a common sense ruling....i personally feel we should have been docked 3 points but thats irrelevant

basically what city have done by getting involved in an appeal that has nothing directly to do with them is invite other clubs to appeal CCFC related judgements(and don't come all holier than thou "rules are rules" bull as we all know CCFC will slip up at some stage this season just like every EL club and will await an FAI decision on something - SHOULD WE APPEAL A CCFC CASE??)

SURE IF WE WENT DOWN THAT ROAD, SHOULD SAY ATHLONE OR KILKENNY FC APPEAL CASES RELATING TO CORK CITY????

Stay out of it City........Ollie Byrne is your role model.....but look where he's going for his sanctimonious chest thumping.......thats right Liam Lawlor wont get the top bunk there!

SAD DAY FOR THE EL....SHAME ON CORK AND DERRY

    Thumbs up Agree

    Stay out of it City........
I agree. I've yet to hear of any benefit to City for doing so..... I wouldn't be surprised if Ollie convinced City to join in for favours down the road?

You only have to look at the trouble Ollie caused with "the flag"

It may have been an administrative error, but surely pats used registered mail. If the correct action isnt taken then whos to say what will happen newxt time

They broke the rules, so they should be punished.
    end of story.

agree wws prob was an admin misdemeaner (!?!)
but none the less it was a breach of the rules and when we did it in the 90's we were docked 3 points for playing an ineligable player against UCD

"you say we gained nothing by it" not the point u cheated by breeeching the agreed rules of the league

you said it has nothing to do with other clubs that have appealed it!
****** of course it does, the way things are in our league is that most seasons it comes down to the last few games to decide the league, europe and relegation and most if not all clubs are involved in one of these battles. pats no doubt will be pushing for europe as will i hope city. Now come the end of the season 3 point that ye should have been (at least) fined may well keep us out of europe and aside from the fact that I never want to see such an embarrasment of a shambles in europe again ( 10-0 to the refugees ..and all that) i'd much rather see a club that deserves it play in europe ( ie one that doesnt break the rules and then get around the proper punishment by winging.

and as for your suggestion of city linking with ollie byrne, i resent any such accusation eapecially in light of his alledged disgracful attack on derry city fans

"and as for your suggestion of city linking with ollie byrne, i resent any such accusation eapecially in light of his alledged disgracful attack on derry city fans"

That sounds like Ollie Talk to me......

Stay out of it City.......if u cant do it on the pitch u shouldnae be in the league...this is a football league not an episode of Perry Mason!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pats face an appeal by two clubs.....what purpose is served by City licking Ollies arse and joining in????
Its the same case we have to answer for....no point in joining in unless yiz are in some dodgy deal with Shels.....only explanation

we'll get out of this and watching all the other clubs pettily having a crackit only makes us more determined to fight the fine as well, let alone the points....yiz wont get away with it corkshels

hey why not mention this while we're digging up old history

wws do the words "refugees" "10" "nil" "to" "the" in the same sentence mean anything to you

a classic chant that will never go out of date...
its right up there with your tractor song about us..another good one

That was a bad one all right, wws, but we've moved on a bit since that. We're now on three wins on the trot - not bad form I think you'll agree?

We could all pick results from the past: last day of the season at Bray, anyone? Get back down the yard....

According to ireland.com Shels was the only appeal to be considered. City weren't just talking trash in the papers were they? Or maybe they were going to appeal before they found out it would cost £300 to do so?

doesnt matter the main thing is the cheating pats got the points deducted and while i think it should only have been , its good to see they are getting puished just as we were when we played an ineligable player against ucd

It was nothing to do with City. I feel pats were unlucky, and I think the rules are poor. Why did it take the FAI 3 games to notice what had happened anyway?! And doing anything in conjucntion with Ollie Byrne should be an immediate no-no. The man should be boycotted.
