Fair play to him if he does make the move.
Considering the source is the Herald though I'd be sceptical about it. Genuinely didn't believe 9/11 happened when I saw it on it's front page that day
lads very interestin article in evening herald tonightabout garto being wanted by rangers on trial.. he previously had a spell with dundee utd in scotland.. i would reckon garto would have no hesitation in signing.. imagine garto the irish mo johnston!!butch treacy would be delighted

Herald also said he'd be the first man from the Republic to play for Rangers. Typical laziness from Fitzgypo

Alex Stevenson for one.
Gartland would be a legend if this went through. At last, a foreign export we can be proud of. Follow, follow.

From Drogheda to Rangers..![]()
Does this really need its own thread? Chris Turner was on trial with them too but that was barely mentioned on here.
I hope he scores a hat trick against Celtic![]()
Why? Because there are so many people who support celtic it would be some form of sickener for them?
If it goes through it will raise the profile for the LOI and will show the quality on offer, but I would only hope that he won't be subjected to abuse because of his nationality.
Stevenson is the knly one I know (and only then because he came back to Pats)
His wiki entry mentions 2 others

in the sun today it said that three previous irish men played for rangers as protestants.. one in 1901 ,1910 and alex stevenson in the 1930s.. for the life of me i wouldnt have a clue who the two names were...
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Kindly don't compare Rangers fans to Ireland fans. I find that deeply offensive. Rangers fans attend football matches week in, week out.

Alex Stevenson from Dublin, Alex Craig from Galway and James McAuley Lowry from Portarlington are the only 3 RoI born players to play for Rangers AFAIK.
McAuley Lowry made only 1 or 2 appearances, Craig was a decent player and played quite a bit. Stevenson had a long football career with Dolphin, Rangers, Everton and Pats as a player and manager. Rangers came over and played Dolphin in Dalymount in 1933 as part of the transfer. They were regular visitors to Dalymount early in the last century for friendlies v Bohs. The Dolphin game was their last friendly in the Republic.
If the transfer does come off it would be a great move for Graham.
