Michael O'Neill, former NI international, and current boss of Brechin City has apparently been offered the job. Kenna was in the running but asked for silly money (he asked for his assistant to be paid more than Scully was being paid). If O'neill turns down the job, its expected that Rovers will approach Fenlon

Michael O'Neill would be a good choice though his knowledge about the League may not be great!....best of luck to him if he gets it....on the Bohs subject, surely heads should role at Bohs board level regarding the losing of Connor's case as well as the land deal fiasco a few weeks back.....who exactly is responsible???

This 'knowledge of the league' being important for someone to manager here is total BS.

Paul Cook and Jeff Kenna have both proved that this year have they not?

Plus, there are plenty of people about that have been involved with LOI for years that haven't a clue and have achieved nothing as managers.

In fairness why would they want to stay on a sinking ship?

Pat Fenlon didn't desert Shels or Derry. Did the fans in Derry not want him to resign? I thought he done the honourable thing. Same as with Shels when neither himself nor his players got paid for weeks on end, they still went on and won the league. True professional. Total gentleman. Very honest and honourable individual.

Great manager. Best in the league. If he follows his head will bring trophies back to Rovers. It would be a huge mistake on his part to stay at Bohs. He is a smart bloke so can't see him staying.

Whilst not going over old ground, there are number of issues surrounding his tenure at Derry in which his behaviour was far from professional or honourable.

He played with Jim Crawford for a spell in England so there's a connection straight away they were both in the Reading squad in 1997/98. It'd be an interesting appointment anyway.

O'Neill knows enough about the League- I have seen him at the Brandywell numerous times over the years.

He also does a fair bit for BBC NI so would know the standard etc.

Sounds like the Connor settlement might have been exaggerated a fair bit. According to the Herald it was €50,000. Then again Aidan Fitzmaurice is a Bohs man so maybe he's trying to soften the blow. http://www.herald.ie/sport/soccer/ir...y-1563255.html

There's not much softening of the blow going on there - if that's a toned-down take on the situation at Bohs then

100k wage seems to be the norm for managers at the top clubs. Players are often debated here but does any one else think that is too much for an LOI manager?

Fitzgypo is a tool. Far too close to the Gerrys. Read his pieces on the Albion court case. Ridiculously biased.

A friend in the legal game told me it was €225,000 plus costs. Why would Connor settle for €50,000 when he turned down a similar offer months ago, and pretty much everyone agrees that his case got far, far stronger on Tuesday?

No confirmation that Mathews has signed a revised contract.
    Is he biding his time?
    Would Bohs have him?
He'd be just the man for a Champions League campaign.

Fair enough, that's why I mentioned his Bohs ties. It would seem strange to settle for so little at this stage, although he might not have wanted any more stories coming out in court an further damaging his chances of another managerial appointment.

Connor himself apparently said it was a significant six figure sum and he was very happy with it. He wouldn't be very happy with 50k.

I don`t for a second believe the Herald piece, someone dismissed on slam dunk flawless grounds could expect that sort of F... off money. I don`t accept the higher figure either, it would be the max of the award possible in the High Court.
Probably both sides costs plus Connors filthy lucre would be around 220k .Does it matter? If the club has proper legal insurance it will pick up that, my own legal costs in my operation cover any one liability of up to 6.5 mill Euro, if they don`t have insuarance its grist to the mill for those trying to oust the Directors

This bit is untrue. He was suing for loss of earnings and for defamation of charachter. The defamation bit was mainly down to the sexual harassment thing, and if it became obvious that the woman involved wanted no part of it, then he'd have easily won that bit of the case. Judge could've ruled that not only did Connor lose the 200k he was to be paid by Bohs, but also "robbed" of his chance to earn significant bonuses, and robed of any further jobs due to the allegations made by the Gerrys.

I'm not saying he would've got more, but 225 most certainly wasn't the max he could've got

If the stories about Bohs seemingly making up allegations against Connor and then retracting them in court are founded, I'd say any insurance company would very easily find a way out of paying costs.
