Well what a surprise! Any more results like this and I'll eat my prawn sandwich. Credit where its due tho as Shels are certainly always hard to beat. What was the estimated attendance and what system did he use? Any guesses on how many Shels brought down? Has Gunther finaly got his act together or is this another false dawn? I'm taking a long-term view and as such remain to be convinced, even on the back of two admittedly excellent results.

    Devine,
    O Rourke, Coughlan, Daly

Carey, O Grady, Flanaghan, Cahill, Horgan

    Mulligan(C o Brien 2), Morley.

    att approx 1000 at best.

Being brutally honest Shels gave City a lesson in football today. City were absolutely rubbish til they got the goal in about the 85th minute. Derek Coughlan is the WORST centre half to ever play for City. City have a long way to go yet, but is points on the board today, and badly needed points at that.Colin 2 was very lively up front. Alan Carey played the best game he has ever played for City in the X. O Grady was very impressive also. Flanaghan was rubbish though.

All in all, the performance was crap but its points that matter.

    False dawn?

As i said, they have a long way to go.

    Thumbs down jackeen refs

as long as dublin refs are in charge of our games v dublin teams we will never get the 50/50s. i think its time for some mass protests & maybe some banners at the rovers games.

There should be banners Red Reb but not about the refs. The refs
I think do a good job. Decisions even themselves out usually over the season. It's usally only gamesmanship from Alex Ferguson et al in seeking excuses or hoping the ref will do him a favour next time that cause people to criticise refs. And while I'm at it why
would any 'jackeens' want to do dublin clubs any favours as they're all ManUre supporters anyway

    Lightbulb

1000 people for the match between the two biggest cities in our country.
Sure I have got more fairies at the bottom of my garden than that. Maybe I should start off a supporters club there.

i cant see an increase in crowds unless city are in with a shout of winning the league near the end of the season. lets face it, cork city dont play the most attractive football ever, and that would deter a lot of football fans from coming.

City were dire today as expected and very lucky to come away with the points!
    My verdict:
    Devine- solid
O Rourke-very solid, tried to pass the ball.
Coughlan- diabolical distribution and not too great in defending, poor in the air where she shuld be strongest.
Daly -similar to coughlan but worse.
Carey- man of the match in my book, superb defending and very solid attacking.
O Grady- not as influential as he can be, but good nonetheless.
Flanagan- I thought he did well first half, but was anonymous 2nd half. At least he tried to keep the ball on the deck.
Cahill-more effective than usual, but a long way off his best.
    Horgan- solid
Mulligan- wasn'ton long enough to do anything really, worked hard as usual.
C o Brien 2- was everywhere, after carey, city's best player on the park. very impressive.
Morley- didn't really notice him, did nothingbad, but not much good either.

As far as i'm concerned this changes nothing. City still look poor and disorganised, Murphy should still go.

    Question Attendance?

Was there really only 1000 at the game? Someone told me closer to 2000

Anyone know who was on the bench yesterday?

If there isn't at least 2000 at the cross next week it'll be confirmation the club is in a bad way! Shamrock Rovers always seem to get the old guys who remember the war out no matter where they are in the league.....

I reckon there was closer to 2000, with 80-100 Shels fans there.

Subs were: Mooney, Napier, Hartigan, Bennett and O'Brien.

In Citys defence of yesterday, and I know i've already posted that they were rubbish but, they got the job done.

They knew Shels would pass them off the park any day of the week, which again, Shels did.

However, I'm now struggling to remember more than one clear oppurtunity for them. While City looked rubbish, they were never strecthed, and always looked comfortable.

Eanna. Must disagree with you. Daly was far better than Coughlan yesterday. At least Daly can tackle.

    Deccie V Derek?

Coughlan - very good in the air! does NOTHING else, CANNOT PASS.
Deccie - good at organising the defense (i think), master of the last gasp tackles & clearances off the line. Poor passer but better than Derek (thats not too hard though)
O'Rourke - tries to pass i think? Not exactely dave Barry but hes a centre back. IMO can be a bit dodgy concentration wise & in the air.........

Good to see Joe was counting the heads at the X yesterday

Does mid table respectability becon for City tomorrow night?

    'respectability'.

Sad but true i spose that itsa all we can aspire to.

Now I know the the 2 mins silence was brilliantly observed yesterday but why were City not wearing black armbands? Maybe something to do with them not wanting to take our attention away from the new shirt maybe???

    just a thought!

Yeah fair point, deccie was solid enough on sunday, but that was the first time this season he's been really solid! His mistakes have been costly this season so far, and I fail to see how he can keep napier out of the team. Master of the last ditch tackle? there's none better!
