Late own goal gifts Pats victory

An own goal from Waterford United full back Ger McLaughlin in the second minute of injury time gave St Patrick’s Athletic all three points against the ten-man Blues at Richmond Park on Saturday night - the Saints’ first Premier Division victory since a defeat of Shamrock Rovers two months ago.

The win eases the growing concerns of Saints fans, who had seen their side lose all momentum over the past while, going through a spell of seven league games without a win and ending up on the losing side in the FAI Carlsberg Cup final against Longford Town last weekend.
