    50 worst Football fans

Some interesting reading. The 'lady in red' himself is listed at number 21 as a fan of Liverpool. I can still see the little ****** swanning around the running track after the Italy 90 game as if he had been playing. He later stated he "took" up following football after Euro 88. Not one to be seen on the North Terrace.

Bertie should fit in here somewhere. Since Drumcondra became extinct the poor chap had to settle for Man utd.

In all fairness to him, if he did support Drumcondra way back, is he expected to switch his allegiances just because his team are out of the league?

Would you start supporting Mervue if Galway dropped out of the league?

Gordon Brown should be number 1. I know a Raith fan who is a bit younger than him and never missed a game. He never saw Brown there. So he checked with an older friend who sat besdie Brown in school. It is true he sold programmes there - once, left well before kickoff had no interest in football and was never seen again.

Chris de Burgh was a regular in Lansdowne under Jack. Not sure how much he knows about the game but he did go.

Bertie was a Drums fan in fairness.

I liked Hornby's book but it always bothered me if he was that big a fan he'd have been at Anfield. He'd at least have been outside trying to get a ticket.

I know one thing is certain. I would follow Mervue before I would even think about supporting Man utd.

What a complete load of arse..bored writer with looming deadline randomly selects 50 famous people he doesn't like with tenuous links to football...."Hitler had a soft spot for Schalke"...hmmm, I'd be interested to know where he dug that one up.

Its a bit ironic that Tim Lovejoy is in the list...its 20 years of media drosslike this that has allowed him to become a celebrity.

I agree with you. It's a half-hearted, poorly done column that reads like a score-settling exercise. Total rubbish.

Great book. Additionally, Ironically, I believe he missed a key Arsenal game when he attended the sports book of the year award ceremony where he received the top prize - cant recall what game it was.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?
