Why are Longford and Pats playing on saturday?

Against Shels and Waterford at home. Obviously it has something to do with the cup but what? It's madness, as a result of this the Shels Bohs match has to be played on a tuesday instead of a monday. The reason that's so stupid is because it happens to be the very same day as Man U play Rangers in the champions league. This is the leagues show peice match and has drawn a massive crowd this year and is normally one that neutruls go and see which starts them getting into the league. This clash with such a massive match on TV will have a huge effect on crowds so why are the FAI/Shels/Bohs/Whoevers responcible shooting themselves in the foot by playing this match at that time? Surley if Longford V Shels and Pats V Waterford were played on a friday all of tuesdays matches could be put back to monday and avoid this whole mess?

I single out Shels Bohs as I'm a Shels fan but it will be effecting all four matches played on the day, surley this is avoidable?

    Longford always play on Saturdays.

Didn't know that myself, but why Pats too? Either way the whole point of not playing at the same time as premiership matches is too avoid this sort of thing as it will effect crowds but this will be even worse then any ordinary premiership clash as far as effective crowds for all of tuesdays matches is concerned.

We were playing Drogs tonight so we could hardly play Waterford on Friday (48-hour rule and all that...)

Think they also had to allow for a cup replay that wouldn't require too many last minutes changes to the "schedule"

Don't think the 48 rule been used much in the eL this season.
