I don't think we should lower our great league to playing those peasants in Scotland

I think it would probably create more interest here than playing IL teams. Possibly more money too: can't imagine Derry or Rovers v Hearts getting a worse crowd than, say, Glentoran or Linfield would bring.
There would be zero interest in Scotland for it. Rangers in Tallaght would WWIII.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

I actually mentioned the idea to some Hibs supporters I knew in Edinburgh, and they all thought it was a great idea (or were being very enthusiastically polite!). They were all fed up with endless trips to either greater Glasgow or Dundee, and would have loved the opportunity to play against different opposition in different cities. Of course, the Old Firm are probably a different proposition, with regular and sustained European football.

Having spoken to mainly Dundee United fans over the last few years i know they are dying for some change of opposition.

A Celtic Cup would actually possibly be something that would work. The League Cup in all countries is seen as a 'diddy' cup, so could be on to something there. Maybe need to lobby the FAI to propose something to the SFA. Think as well with gates being split 60/40 if you could an away tie against Celtic or Rangers what that extra would be for a LOI team. Although I really think the prospect of Rangers fans in Dublin etc would make it a no-go.

A swiss member of a Celtic forum I'm on posted this, it's a quote from Sion's lawyer.

Responding to Swiss media reports of Platini and Blatter's comments, and rumours that UEFA officials have told Celtic they can plan for the group stages, Alexandre Zen-Ruffinen has said "This stinks to high heaven. I'm preparing our response to Celtic's protest, but is seems I can save myself the effort. The verdict has been decided before the Uefa Disciplinary Committee meeting

Ugh.... Fair result but annoying nonetheless.

You'd better hope that Celtic don't perform a comedy encore in the groups...

It helping our ranking and is a few million in the bank, I'm happy. One of their players they knew they weren't to play scored the two goals that knocked us out so i don't feel for Sion. They cheated and they knew it. We wouldn't have had such a hard group if we had been in the pot so we're screwed there but I'll enjoy the big European nights against Madrid and Udinese

still didn't do enough on the field to get into teh next round

how much of a coincidence is it that both your teams could be beaten in cup competitions by "inferior" sides but get reinstated over player registration issues in the same week

Well done to Celtic for getting in by default. Maybe next year they can get in on the pitch and without any help from UEFA.

I'd bleeding love it, not sure about Sheriff though.

Sion helped us, they cheated. Celtic and UEFA have nothing to feel bad about.
