Our support is awful and its cringeworthy that we are now down to just one "song" (Ireland clap clap clap).

If there is one reason why our support is so crap its because most only go to 2 or 3 games a year and don't really have a clue about how to behave at a live match.

Well done to the poles for creating a half decent atmosphere. Many people on here have in the past blamed croker for been to big etc to create an atmosphere,Well the poles proved last night with a little enthusiasm what can be acheived.

It does'nt matter whetter its landsdowne or croker we are a useless lot for getting behind the team.

It was a good idea of the fai to host poland as they knew they would sell lots of tickets,do u think the boh's could play a Roma people selection since they are the gypsies.

The away support drum up an atmosphere for one game, and all of a sudden, our fans are all sorts. If we were winning the game for 90 minutes like the Poles were, that would soon shut them up.

How many other friendlies had 30-40k home fans, some travelling a 200-mile round trip last night?

The reason we go to home games is to win, not to sing. When we're away, the emphasis is more on the trip than the game.

Some announcement in Polish, when they had a free kick on the edge of the area near the end, which led to them all cheering. Bloke beside me thought it was the announcement that "their dole payments are going up"

Have you read this thread at all ?

Kinda reminds me of the the Dorothy Parker quote when she was advised that Calvin Coolidge US President had just died

here here. they end up just doing drum rolls that are no relevance at all to any chants or songs

I think that's worth noting as we engage in another round of self loathing. Part of the ultra culture that we so laud and worship is people concentrating very little on the game itself or indeed staying with their back to the match for the majority of its duration.

Well said PS, its a paradox but a true one. For them its almost like a family, an organisation to be part of, rather than something to identify with as part of your heritage and your identity. If you REALLY are a football fan and patriotic about your country then you concentrate on the football in front of you.

How were the poles allowed to take so many flares into the ground, and to let them off. Security at these matches is a joke, you could bring anything in with you. I think flares are great but if i went into Croke Park and started letting off flares I'd be fcuked out by the guards. Were the polish fans?

"Excuse me lads, have you got flares in your pockets, or are just pleased to be in Croke Park?"

Has any facebook pressure group ever made a difference? I mean outside of things like getting "is" changed from being part of your status to an option that you can remove
Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I put them on the same level as online petitions
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

tets you could be right, but if it shows the FAI that there are this many people involved who want to have a singing section then they might just decide to do it.

Going a step further, the people signed up could be used by the FAI to cross reference block bookers and therefore align them all in the one section. A bit of work in fairness but well worth it.

At the end of the day no harm in trying anyway.
