So the summer season is at the mid-way point but are we in a new dawn or is it simply another false one for Ireland's beleaguered National League?
The optimism that engulfed the country about the new eircom league season was huge. Fuelled by the return of so many players from England, the success of Wes Houlihan and Co. at Ireland Under 21 level and, of course, Glen Growe's progression to the senior international squad, few could have believed that just a year previously the National League was in a state of turmoil.
