Delaney hopeful of final place

St Patrick’s Athletic centre half Clive Delaney is hopeful that he can keep his place in the Saints’ defence for Sunday’s FAI Carlsberg Cup final against Longford Town.

Delaney was signed by Saints manager Eamonn Collins from under the noses of Dublin rivals Shelbourne on transfer deadline day at the end of August, and has since broken up the long-standing central defensive partnership of Colm Foley and Darragh Maguire, which was regarded as one of the most solid in the league for the past few seasons.
