The league will learn nothing if Cork aren't banned from Europe next year, imo. UEFA have set out this rule and the FAI are really doing themselves a (further) disservice if they are going to support a club who broke the European association's rules, as well as their own.

Setanta Cup win and European qualification. That's the job, I'll take that any day of the week!

    Successful season. Cheers lads.

    That was Joe McGrath.

Mahon would be a disaster at a big club though. Moany old boll0cks too.

Ah my mistake. I think he tries to get his teams playing decent football but don't think he'd hack it at the top sides.

If we get fourth and are not allowed play in europe I think our players still deserve a lot of respect if you look at how far they got in every competition.

Has anyone got the exact UEFA text relating to this?

Nobody seems to know anything, not even the FAI. I read some of that article but it 254 pages long, 3/4 is about financial items and a word the crops up a lot is 'local'.

Wouldn't be easier to just allow city compete .... to make life easy like
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

To be fair think that is only too true. Didn't think cork would be in fourth or even fifth at the start of the season. So winning the setanta cup and finishing 5th isn't bad

Sorry for asking this question but does that mean they will get a liscence from UEFA?

Is being permitted to play in Europe by your national association and getting a UEFA liscense the same thing?

UEFA seem to be very strict on the issue as CSKA Sofia were banned from Europe, and would be very surprised if the FAI challenged UEFA's rules.

Licence is issued by FAI licencing committee not Uefa as countries have different rules.

Shocking attendance at the game, must have been well under 1000 as Pats side very quiet. Pats looked disinterested and can't see them winning a game again this season.

What a great end to a disastrous season for us.
I have never been so proud of the team as I have the past few weeks and months.
Stuck together, gave their all week in week out, won the Setanta Cup last Saturday night and are now on the brink of European qualification.
A fantastic feat when you consider they have been only getting 30% of their wages, the uncertainty that was surrounding the club, and of the course the departures of Mooney, O'Flynn and that other langer.

Well done lads, we won't forget it, let's hope we can push on now next season!
low lie the fields of Bishopstown......

Dunno why people think it will be better for the league if Cork get into Europe. They were an embarrassment in Europe this year
