Well he's been injured for the last 5.

You think maybe he's been written off because of the white beard?

One step forwards, at least one step back?

There was a lot of criticism around the time of the Poland squad announcement that management didn’t appear to know our best options, at least on the periphery of the squad.

In fairness, a lot of these concerns – and even the fact that this was a concern – seem to have been acknowledged in recent press reports and for once it seems like the collective hackery is asking the right questions. Several articles today & yesterday address the players omitted and the perceived lack of scouting.

However, when Brady is quoted as saying that the reports on Kyle Naughton have been good, oblivious to the fact that he’s in the current Enland U21 squad it seems to me that for every step forward we seem to take we take at least one step backwards too.

This is as bad as Givens thinking Jamie McCarthy was tied to us because of his recent U21 appearance.

Edit - I just saw this in the Irish Times, in mitigation:

Finally, the former Arsenal and Ireland midfielder said that it is still possible the well regarded Sheffield United right back Kyle Naughton may decide to ignore interest from the English FA and declare for Ireland. "We are asking the questions now," he said. "We will find that out. He is doing quite well, so England are getting interested now that we are interested but we will see."

But I guess the point still stands Stutts?

So far Trap has trusted his cohorts to do the scouting job and then observe the players himself in the training. That's fine but it could be better. It would help with his decisions in deciding on squad replacements and during our games if he has a personal impression of how his subs do in their club competitive matches.
