Theres a lot of talk re the players Dundalk are going to bring in, but how have they got the budget to payfor all these players. With all the cuts that clubs are making at the moment, dont see how dundalk can maintain it in the long run.

Ps Are there any plans for Fingal to expand into the neigbouring towns for support, for eg Swords, Skerries, Ballbriggan ? i dont mean move to play there, but set up training, have club shops there etc to tap into local support
    Cheers man. Appreciated.

Setting up the Third-Level Scholarship Scheme, in partnership with Dublin City University and the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown. God knows how many free football jerseys have been given out to junior football teams in the area. The training facility the council is building will possible be going to Lusk last I heard. Maybe delayed due to recession though.

(Sorry to others for going off topic)

In fairness, Dundalk do seem to get 1500 a game (which will probably increase in the Premier, but even if it doesn't, it's a good amount), have income from the bar and the plastic pitch which is probably a nice few quid and, most importantly, have top players probably willing to take a pay cut if they can get guarantees that they'll be paid throughout the year. I think Dundalk could be pushing for Europe next year.

We are possibly the only club that made a profit last season.
We do have a couple of revenue streams also to rely on.
    1) Our artifical surface- funds can tackle the day to day admin running of the club.
    2) Patron Scheme- monthly funds donated by supporters solely and used exclusively for the payment of players wages.
    3) Our gate receipts for next season.

On another point we have a reputation of being able to pay our players 100% on time. Not many clubs can say that.

Our chairman spoke of actually it would be more cost effective to sign certain players f/t rather than p/t. When negotiating with players on a p/t basis the amount that they agree on is their net pay and not their gross. Some of their tax credits are used on their first job so the club have to pay their tax @ 40% rather than them being f/t and paying them only 20%.

Personally I am unsure of the step up but our chairman and our board have done a fantastic job with our club over the last 3 years and they do know their sums.

Was that before or after the E100k prize money? Not having a dig, but obviously you won't be getting that next year.

They don't but obviously they're not going to sign everyone who's linked with them. If they're linked with 8 players they may sign 3/4. Nothing new there...

It was alot more than that B&W. I reckoned we had consistently 1300 to 1700 @ each home game. The obvious exception being the Shels and Waterford games where i thought we touched the 2000 mark.

Dundalk have also signed Darren Mansaram. As for finances, they will probably post a profit this year again. Those dark years in the First Division have allowed us to establish a firm financial footing and we will be very competitive next season.

In terms of numbers relative to the town's population, I'd say we are the best supported team in the country.

Dundalk's population is only 35085, their av. attendance last season was 1,406, that's a 4% turnout rate

Compare that to Derry and Cork.

    Derry's population is 83,652, their average attendance was 2,614, that's a 3% turnout rate

Cork has a population of 119,143, thir average attendance was 2,897, a turnout rate of only 1.5%

Therefore Dundalk is statistically the best supported club in Ireland.

AND THOSE ARE FIRST DIVISION ATTENDANCE FIGURES!!!!!

    2.5%, not 1.5%.

Therefore Dundalk is statistically the best supported club in Ireland.
Only Cork of those three give official crowds; drawing the above conclusion based on estimates is pointless and probably wrong.

A 150-man squad for Sporting Fingal next year, then?

Em, no. If you want to work it out like that then Cobh hammer you with a population of 13,000 and an average attendance of 1,122.

    11.5%

    11.5%

But its also easier for clubs in smaller towns to become more part of the community and therefore attracting more fans

    Now we are confused

I based that on 2007 as it is closer to the last population census. Cobh's av attendance was 681 and their ACTUAL POPULATION is 12,887 then their % turnout is 5%

Still very good I'll give you that but St. Colemans park is a kip and I'd like to know what their attendance will be in the MSL in 2009

But 5% is still better than the 4% you stated as Dundalk's attendance above

Not denying that. I'm just saying that as a full package as a football club ie, fanbase, finances, facilities, history, pedigree, etc etc etc....

Dundalk is the ONLY club that ticks ALL of the boxes.....

Lads face facts all clubs attendences are sh1t. For the attendences to be half decent we would want to be at least doubling the amount of bums that we can get on the seats.
Clubs really should want to be trying at least to get 10% out of their catchment area
