Yeah and its directed by C Eastwood and starring Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman
Think Spike Lee has been proved right on this one!!!
Wonder has any major South African stars featured in any of the leading roles?

I doubt there are many South African actors as good as Morgan Freeman

There is only one major SA star and Charlize Theron wouldn't be a great Mandela
There are a few supporting roles filled by SA actors I notice Clint found a spot for his son in there though

I didn't say it was a bad story, or even one that shouldn't be told. My point was that in the entire life of Mandela, why is the first story that is committed to celluloid?

    But it's not.....

Goodbye Bafana is about his time in prison and the relationship with his Xhosa speaking white prison guard, although how much is fact and how much is fiction has been open to debate, Mandela himself did a foreward for the movie so there must be a reasonable amount of truth in it.

There was a proper documentary done about 10 years ago shortly after the end of apartheid too & I believe there is another Biographical movie in the making.

There was also Mandela and De Clerk with Sydney Poitier and Michael Caine although that was made for TV.

True but wouldn't it be nice to see a South African play the part rather than a whole Hollywood fairytale job?

    invictus

thanks razor. didnt know it was already released. thought it was a worldwide release in february. honestly dont know what to think of it. i read the book its based on and it follows the mandela angle in the book to the letter, but for some reason i expected more. that being said i still enjoyed and would recommend people see it. the rugby scenes are well done and the attention to detail in those scenes is incredible.

Just watched Australia there. Wow. Wish had seen it in the Cinema but still amazing. Made me cry in parts and smile too. Baz Luhrmann is a god.

Is that the one where he is a clown who robs the bank? A great movie if it is.

It would, but realistically for it to be a world wide commercial success Morgan Freeman in the lead role is much more marketable than some unknown south african.Personally it was the main reason I got interested in the movie initially... and he is very good in the role to be fair
    Its really not that complicated!!!

    more importantly, who plays Winnie?
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

    Mary Harney?
If Robert Downey Jnr can change race, surely Harney can too, she has history with changing colour?

Just been to see Avatar and have to say I absolutely loved it. The storyline is very cliched really but I I didnt care, it was still an enjoyable storyline. The special affects and the 3D were incredible though. If you want a movie thats thought provoking or a bit arty stay away from this but if u want to just go and turn your brain off and be entertained for 2 and half hours then I couldnt recommend it highly enough
