Out of the Furnace - 7/10
Good movie. Could have been even better if they edited 20 minutes out of it. Took too long to reach its conclusion.

Watch Hunger Games: Catching Fire last week.
Thought it was an excellent show. The girlfriend is a big fan of the books, and says they're portrayed pretty well in comparison to other book-to-film shows.
Much better than the first one, and the now late Phillip Seymour Hoffman is superb in it, as he was with 99.9% of his films. Screenplay was very well done out, but I feel the big scenes just play out far too quickly. Looking forward to the next one in November. 9/10

12 Years A Slave.
There is nothing to say. Possibly the greatest film of our generation.

Seen it, was good but not sure if its as great as people make out tbh, lead actor is brilliant though.
Yesterday saw the Unknown, Liam Neeson movie about guy whose identity is taken, turned off after about 5 minutes
Looking at Vice guide to North Korea makes me want to look at the Truman Show again

Yes, that was a mind feck, that was the scariest part, just staring at Google, no sign of Matt Cooper though!

Saw Dallas Buyers Club last week, and came away mightily impressed. One I could watch again.
100% agree on Dallas Buyers Club. Brilliant performances all around great film.
Wolf of Wall Street was also an entertaining enough romp. Not exactly deep and meaningful and a bit too long, but some good acting and very funny in parts.
I completely disagree with this. I think people should get Oscars because of how good they acted, not how much weight they lost/put on.
Robert De Niro put on weight, lost weight and added muscle when the role dictated it; to enhance his performance.
Now you have all these clowns doing it to prove critics wrong because they don't have the acting chops to let their performance speak for itself.
50 Cent, Jared Leto.........
Maybe TOWK is right. A fully buffed Matt Mac would have added to his performance as a man dying of AIDS.
TOWK, you're off your rocker.
DID YOU NOTICE A SIGN OUTSIDE MY HOUSE...?
The McConaissance is all good. McConaughey's a terrific actor. He's just as good, if not better, in True Detective. His speech at the Oscars was a bit arsey, mind.
McConaughey was pretty good in Dallas Buyers Club. Just seen it. In all fairness, I never called him a crap actor. He was good in A Time To Kill and Frailty before he became the go-to-guy to star in rom coms aimed at people above the age of 25.
Even Leto was pretty good, although acting like a dandy shouldn't be a stretch for him.
It still doesn't sit well with me though. Actors hiding behind layers of make up, putting on and losing weight to try and increase their street cred.
Got around to watching Anchorman 2 last night. Pure and utter sh!te. A couple of decent gags, but aside from that, a fairly dire show. 3/10

McConaughey is a very good actor, he took a few roles in rom-com to pay the bills and then got type-cast not really his fault as he wasn't been offered much else. Havn't see Dallas Buyers Club but watched the Lincoln lawyer there last week thougt he was very good in it, excellent in Mud too and as you say Time to kill
