Not necessarily a bad thing either

I was warned about levelling criticism at Tommy Barrett the midfielder, but a centre-half he is not. He's not rubbish there, but why bother? He, like Wayne, can dictate play in the midfield whereas he's an adequate centre-half.

Definitely spent more years playing centre half than say, Danno.

He's not rubbish there, but why bother?
Because it's a position where we are short and we have an abundance in midfield.

He, like Wayne, can dictate play in the midfield
    Wrong.

    whereas he's an adequate centre-half
Much better than adequate by the divisions standards.

i think tommy is a very good centre back, better than midfield actually. when he plays in midfield he definately doesn't dictate it, more breaks it up. He's more a definsive player than an attacking one so the other options in midfield are better in my opinion. Wayne with either Hughes or Lyons i think is a good balanced centre midfield and prob the best option for next season.

Tommy Barrett has been brilliant this season when he has had to play at centre-back. Hes not getting any younger and seems to have lost a bit of pace with injuries and that so why not have him as a centre-half?

Hes great in the air and he has done well orgainising the defence when he played there. I think when he plays in midfield he loses the ball a lot and does not control the game as much as say Hughes and Colbert.

Saying that I don't think Barrett and Dano are suited to play with each other at centre back, they both attack the ball first, you need a centre back who drops deeper and clears up any flick ons etc.

He could also do a great job at centre forward as a target man with one of the fast strikers. Limerick need someone like that for next season when we play the weaker teams who seem to sit back behind the ball and defend for their lives. The likes of Sheahan and Tierney don't seem to get stuck in during those games. Barrett would do that job up front. I would prefer him at centre back though.

I think that is definately the type of player Limerick should be looking to bring in for next season. Someone who can get around the pitch a bit aswell but a good strong target first and foremost. Will Tierney be with us next season? How long is his contract with Cork City, with the wage bill being cut and them losing alot of players they might want to hang onto a player like Tierney (Prob still just as back up for them though).

I heard he signed on with Limerick for next season. Most of the squad has I heard. Just rumours going around at the last game, don't know if anyone knows if this is true?

Would be brilliant news if this is the case. Hopefully come the end of the season we will know who is definately around for next season and that 90% of the squad stick around

Hopefully ya, but its Limerick you never know

That has been the problem the last few years, with the exception of the usual few players, it was a new squad every season.

I think most of the squad will stay on, seems to be bit of a buzz around the club again

I don't see the fact that someone is slowing down to be a good reason to just let them fill-in at centre-half until they retire.

I don't mean to labour the point but that statement seems to be almost blase about the position of centre-half.

Yes, but you do need that extra bit of fitness and pace in centre midfield

Sure if all fails he can always go in goals, not much pace needed.
