I'm not 100% sure, but I THINK, as a result of this the Pats Bohs league meeting next friday will also be shown live by RTE.
Well Well Well.
194,000 people watched the Cup semi final replay on Network 2 last wednesday night. This was a 16% audience share.
This outnumbered the previous saturday's Premiership programme which featured Man Utd v Birmingham and Liverpool v Arsenal.
I appreciate that there is a different audience for live football than for the highlights but still what a turnout.
Maybe when the advertisers sit up and take notice we may get a few more live games on tv.
Maybe some of the armchair fans might be tempted to take a trip to a live game.
Anyway what an advert for our league - well done to Pats & Bohs.

I'd rather die laughing than trying!
Nothing to do with TV3. They have first option rights. if they don't use them, RTE can show what they like. Nothing to stop RTE showing highlight's either...
Oh and those figures were more than had watched Man U v Stuttgart the previous week too...

Maybe someone should tell RTE theres more than 2 teams in the Premier league.
btw i don't want them to show city cos we always terrible in live tv games.
If that is the case then it say's a lot about RTE that they don't even bother with them for the News then....Originally posted by Dodge

great that so many people watched the game, especially when it was such a good advert for the league, but on a similar vein, i saw in the current rte guide that more people watched the premiership than the ireland -v- turkey international (that particular week).
I thought the Ireland Turkey game was only on a delayed broadcast on TV3? Only the qualifying games were listed by the Government...
btw it got a crap attendance at the game, so hardly shocking if it also got a crap viewing share...
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
Ireland V Turkey was live on Sky, then repeated later by TV3, so it's hardly suprising it got low viewing figures. Ireland matches in general are normally watched down the pub if you don't goto the match anyway.
According to PaddyPower.com Pats and Bohs is going to be live on Network 2 on Friday night at 8:05.
Oh no not them again
But the RTE Guide says no...

It seems that TV3 will just show the 2 live games this season that they're contracted to do; one from the first day, one from the last day.![]()
ONE CITY, ONE TEAM.
Good news indeed then, if true. The other Bohs-Pats games were supposedly crackers aswell, should get a good viewership too cause of the semi, people will convince other people to watch it and assuming it's good, they'll watch more and possibly go to games. Also, RTE News have suddenly shown considerable highlights, more than just the goals plus a commentary on how they affect the league/what the story is with the teams.
As usual though anyone who likes to get to 2 decent games at the w/end cant,ie Shels v Rovers,Pats v Bohs the same night.Madness
