The Worlds 30 highest spending clubs this summer

Read an article in World Soccer last week about the highest spending clubs in football this summer. Without googling or reading the article I wonder who could get closest to the the 30 top spending clubs and in the correct order?

I will post up the clubs tomorrow. (Hint: There are no LOI clubs in the List )

    Bundyapor Tashkent?

(By "highest spending this summer", do you mean transfer fees or total expenses? And I assume it'd be level of spending then? Sorry to be pedantic, but it might be the difference between getting three and four right. )

Probably spelt it wrong. Uzbeki side who signed Rivaldo on a $14m contract in the summer. With crowds of 10000+, middle eastern oil money behind them and a Champions' League semi coming up, they could be an obscure outside bet. There's usually one or two.

FC Bunyodkor, of Tashkent, Uzbekistan says wikipedia.

They're managed by Zico, but don't seem to have any other particularly high profile internationals (one guy has four caps for Chile).

    Wasn't too far off!

I'd say a couple of "lower" English clubs are there too, like Everton, Spurs and Newcastle. LA Galaxy are a possibility, though again just because of one player. Maybe a team in the UAE? The big Brazilian clubs like Corinthians, Palmeiras and Flamengo? Though I'd say at least 25 of them will be European teams.

Man Utd's only major outlay this summer was Berbatov. Spurs (they may have sold Berbatov and Keane but they've splashed out as well) and Man City would have to feature.

If we are including wages and signing on fee's then I'd expect to see a few obscure teams! The PL would surely have at least 5 places in the top 30?

By highest spending I mean spent minus recieved. The highest club this summer actually spent £78.45m sterling in transfers but recieved £13.8m in transfers. So in this case the club is considered to have spend £64.65m on transfers this summer (this is what the actual highest spending club this summer did spend).

Its weird to see no Real Madrid, Chelsea or Milan in that list. I wonder is the recession hitting the bigger clubs? We have a few unusual clubs in the CL group stages this season, will it continue next season?

It could be said that Milan didn't spend that big because they are only in the UEFA Cup this season, no CL money.
Real have cut down hugely on their massive spending from the Galactico era. They seem to be concentrating on developing more of their own young players now.
Chelsea have surely spent enough in the last few years!

I don't think the list is all that important. Sure, Sunderland spent more on transfers (net) than Man Utd, but who's spending more on salaries?

Surely that makes Chelsea one of the big spenders, even if they did sell a lot too!
