    City on Tour in Basle

Congrats to all those who wore their EL shirts with pride in Basle.
I actually lost count of the number of City jerseys that I saw. Fair play to those other clubs such as Finn Harps, Waterford and Bohs
who I saw wearing their club tops. I was actually given the finger by one dub who said "F..k Cork City" and another told me I should be wearing a green jersey instead of my city red away top.
I think the only other jersey which came near city ones was sadly
those awful blue Dublin GAA tops which make me want to puke. Tickets are wasted on those cnuts and you can see their jerseys were last washed when Dublin won an All-Ireland. It was nice to see a Cork City flag outside Basle central station and a "Flynny for Ireland" chant.
I think anyone going to Ireland games should wear their city
top, where at least you can wind up those Doooooooooooooobs
looking for Pooooobs, if nothing else. It really was great to see all
those city jerseys and it seems more and more are wearing theirs
    with pride.

definately fair play to all the rebel army members who were over in Basle
was the only thing that gave me any bit of pride about the match was the next day in the sunday papers seeing so many shots of green city jerseys in the crowd.

City were out in force in Basel..gr8 to see.......must admit it was good to see lads wear their county GAA colours as well....the swiss asked about a carlow one and all I could say was it was an irish thing but that doesn't excuse the colours on the carlow shirt...vile....

    Question

I thought City fans were banned from Switzerland after the Lausanne match, where the irish pub was drunk dry by about 9pm.

Yeah that was funny, Guiness putting up a free bar for the team and supporters only to have the place drunk dry by the time the team actually got there! I think Kilkenny lager was all that was left by 10
The glass isn't half full or half empty it's just too damn big!

    City on Tour in Basle

I really would like to see the EL fans to wear their colours at the Internationals. Apart from winding up Dubs- which is our county sport anyway- it really does benefit the league as most of the feedback is positive. It pays to advertise. Another Dub outside O'Reilly's bar confessed to being a Rovers fan- although that was "because one of the Rovers players lives four door away from him."
    As I said I have never seen so many city tops at an international game and I've been going since 1984. I 'd be interested in hearing other fans' views on why this should be so? Is it because;
    1) City really have reached the parts other clubs can't reach viz-a-viz the national team, hence the scarcity of other EL jerseys?
    2) Cute Cork hoors got more tickets for this sell-out than other
    counties?
    3) The fans are making a statement to say the club is bigger than the country to city fans?
    4) A city top is a valuable fashion accessory?
One thing for sure City fans are way out in front and we should make sure it stays that way.
PS- I saw a yellow Leeds utd away top won by an Irish fan at the
    game.

The marketing value of the City jersey is there to be seen.

Should be more available in every sports shop in town.

It defies belief that the Duuuuuubs complained that we should have worn Oirish shirts not City ones when they were probably wearing Celtic shirts themselves.......probably thought they were the away jersey's anyway .......... anyone see the film Dumb & Dumber........ should have been filmed in Duuuuuuuublen
    Irish by birth,
Cork by the grace of God.

    known in the vernacular.

It wasn't a Celtic shirt - it was a Celtic like LOI shirt aka Rovers.
Anyone see the poor Offaly fella in the middle of all the Swiss standing still, as they all went mad after the goal? Made de Welsh laugh.
